Hi

The TDR used the early TZR250 Yamaha engine that was a parallel twin, not a V twin. Full power on them was 45hp as they were not restricted

Sound like a real fun bike

All the best

RiDE loves them, undervalued and underrated bikes apparently. the yellow and blue colour scheme can be hideous, but the black and yellow looks ok.

aha so 45hp is fully on power for one of them then, that'll still do for a bit of crack eh they have quite low gearing aswell as far as im aware so should have demon take off they have the tacho mounted in the tank??? yes i know sounds mental looks even crazier when you see them, i have to admit i dont like the looks of them but i think if your on one wheeling for Britian you wouldna give a crap what she looks like eh i reckon one would make a great winter hack

Cheers for the speedy replys

CRM250s are regarded as one of the best crossers that you can get, apparently...although I'd rather have a 4-stroke XR or Yam TTR.

They are indeed raod going CRs ... almost as much power and as little weight. But road legal and a lot longer intervals for rebuilds etc.

As for being one of the best 'crossers I'm not sure, one of the best road-legal in stock form 'crossers yea Smile

I read somewhere about someone that was getting 105hp * at the rear from a CR500 engine... it was just in a standard mx bike, but sounds like it would be pretty good in supermoto trim as well Very Happy

The TDR is another fine mentalists 2 stroke road bike, and its also a kind of very practical version of a supermoto bike. It makes about 46bhp, as it was very slightly detuned from the old TZR250 where the motor came from. Its still pretty peaky and lots of fun though. I was considering getting one myself, as i once had a TZR, but then i found a KMX200 cheap, which is nearly as much fun for a winter bike, cheap supermoto project. The CRM250 would make a cracking second bike or winter machine, but its very pricey for a 250cc and quite rare. The autolube version of the RMX250 and KDX250 are also probably about as good, but its harder to find the parts for them. I would imagine that a 350YPVS motor would slot into the TDR frame easily enough, and would make it even more fun/silly! that would be a nice project to undertake. If i had the money lying around, then id love to ask that guy (cant remember his name) who builds the 5 and 7 cylinder kawasaki's to make me a doubled up KMX200 engine, as a 65bhp+ KMX would likely be very interesting to say the least!

Allen Millyard - latest completed project was a z1/ z900 based V8 - I think he's currently working on a z1300 based V12 !!!!
