New gadget to dodge all speed cameras

I just read about a new GPS based gadget that effectively makes all speed cameras redundant including mobile speed traps.
Basically, when you see a mobile speed camera you press a button on the unit and it sends it off to a central server. This information is then transmitted to everyone else unit.

So if person A is driving along the A1 and sees a mobile speed trap, they press the button on the unit. This update is then sent out to everyone so that they know the presence of the speed trap. I'm not sure how it works out if the trap is no longer there, but I'd rather slow down for a false alarm than speed through a camera.

In France, more than 50,000 people have apparently bought it and recorded 27,000 speed camera traps. Not sure if this is duplicate clicks or what, but it's impressive!

It's called Mini Coyote and is being released next week. The only downside is it costs £199, but I guess that could pay itself back within no time if you tend to get caught speeding lol

P.S. I'm not advertising or anything, but this could be pretty big if it kicks off!! The implications for this sort of stuff is massive too. You could use the idea for so many things other than traffic use.

I just read about a new hand based gadget that effectively makes this device redundant. It repeatedly presses the button regardless of speed camera presence, meaning that anyone relying on the device is constantly bombarded with false warnings.

just stick to the speed limit and you'll not only save yourself the fine and points.. but you'll also save the £199 you spend on the gadget..

If your speeding on a road to the point where your unable to read the road ahead and notice it, then I think its a just penalty for getting caught.

A device on your bike that can write back to a server and record your exact location? Someone else's server over which you have no control.

Thats just my view anyway. Even when driving a car I stick to the speed limit. I suppose its useful if you live next to alot of country roads and motorways where you know going above 70 isn't too bad. I'd just rather save myself the money and keep a close eye out

Meh, the Sat Nav I've got gives me the locations of the fixed cameras anyway and gives me warnings about the locations the little mobile buggers might be hiding in. 9/10 there hasn't been a camera there. But that one time it did save me a fine because I wouldn't have seen the car hiding round the blind bend and the copper pointing a gun at me otherwise
