Bus lane FAT WHITE LINE

I know I don't have long to wait but it saves me 15min on my journey to and from work.

Is it ok if we ride our bikes on the fat white line between the roads and bus lanes?

If your seen by Cctv cameras then you'd probably be fined depending on the restrictions in place. If you are unable to filter on the outside, best bet is to give yourself a bit more time for your journey. I'd rather be safe and stay in the queue than to filter against oncoming traffic or being in the bus lane.

If the opposite lane is empty and you won't be a hazard to the oncoming traffic you can use all of the other lane.

I know it sounds mad but it's something they teach at the Bike-Safe course. They say it's better to be in the middle of the opposite lane, further away from the stationary traffic than it is to be filtering along side only 6 inches away.

I think a list is available from the Traffic Regulation Orders, but TFL are asking for £2 for a printed copy

I find it annoying when all vehicles keep out of the bus lane when it's not in operation. Half of them can't be arsed to read the signs.

To be honest I find it more annoying in Bristol when you get cars and vans driving through the bus lanes at about 20mph, or like the majority of them which have cars parked in them making them useless. Bikes can use bus lanes in Bristol which is nice when they are clear but half the time they have muppets in them..

I use the empty bus lanes to commute daily..... I don't see any issue's.
