PostPosted: 18:14 - 13 Nov 2008    Post subject: Cleaning Gloves and Helmet? Reply with quote

Was just wondering how to go about cleaning my gloves and helmet, there's no guides as to how to do it on them :s

I'm assuming you can't put leather gloves in the washing machine, and they're too thick to turn inside out

And helmet, well I'm not even considering putting that in a washing machine, but is there an easy way to clean the padding?

Thanks for any help Smile

Yeah, after fiddling with it a little bit I've noticed the pads come out
*Smacks head*
Just take them out and spray febreeze on them and leave em over night to air?

Works good - always using the works 'free' bottle once a week - only because its free mind.
As for gloves, I place on the radiator and still smells damp Confused

Whats worse is the fact that you'd quite happily stick your head in it!

Ignorance is bliss and all that.

I can see the advantages of sticking ya lid in the bath, a PROPER clean.

But my second thought was, would it not effect the protective foam on the inside when it soaks through, and possibly rendering it useless?

I knew it was polystyrene (saw a cut in half lid on my first CBT) but I've never put any of it near water

Take it off and clean it wet in washing up liquid soapy water and then rinse under the tap.
You can then spray the outside with a nice wax polish (supermarket cheepie works well) which will help water and dirt sticking to it.

The joys of having removable liners.

I used head and shoulders on mine. It still smells lovely.

Use a leather cleaner, then a leather moisturister on your gloves (If they are leather). Hand wash them with some stuff reccommended for outdoor garments if they are textile.
