small loans for 18 year old

im looking for a loan/finance for a bout 500 pounds wich is tiny to be honest and cant find anywhere that would do it

anyone know of any places ?

Tried asking your employer? As long as you pay it back within their financial year they can just put it through as an advance on wages.

i would love to save up for it because i hate the pressure loans put on you but i would like to get a cheap project while bikes are going cheap through the winter

If you have online banking you'll probably have an option to apply online, you'll usually find out within a day or two if they accept.

Bear in mind that if you are planning a project to do up and sell, you will lose money.

It's only possible to make money doing that if you are a very good mechanic, and either have a garage full of parts from years of tinkering or access to very cheap parts.

And £500 isn't project bike money, any project should be sub £200. Go for a 2 stroke.

Probably better off getting a credit card (might have trouble getting 0% for a year though) and paying it off very quickly. Having a C/C will also help give you a better rating which as much as you or I may not like it is something that needs to be done unless you have ltos of cash floating about.

For your use I'd just learn to save up some cash though.

Don't spend £2 coins. If you are given a £2 coin in your change you HAVE to put it in your piggy bank.

£500 in £2 coins is a surprisingly small pile.

If you're like me overdraft's won't work, paying them back is easy with wages but 'earning' out of it to work it off isn't as easy cos it's still there to fall back into. I've got mine sorted now but I had an issue of relying on it for a few months = bad.

Loans are ok, long as you can pay it all back and quicker the better, I'd get a Cred card because you can pretty much pay £15+ a month off and not have any bother, missing payments doesn't bother them much and even though it affects your credit score technically, I've not heard of it specially damaging anyones as yet.

I'd follow Stinkwheel's recommendation. (Think I actually will too lol)

i like it stinkwheel , might take along time to get that 500 quid though

credit cards are not something i want to get involved in but i might get one and just not use it to get a nice credit rating

You get one and dont use it = does NOT mean good credit rating.


get one, buy small things and pay it off fully = good credit rating.


Not getting one at all = Normal credit rating (not good or bad)
