Does Aprilia RS125 get stolen more often than other 125s? Should I pay much for a proper lock or the one for £30-40 will do? Any good security cable/chain locks which won't cost me a fortune?

I think official statistics show that the RS is top of the stolen list.

+1 for Almax.

if you live in London id say yes, if you live in the country then its probably the dt that's at the top of thief list.

at the end of the day its a bike desired by kids that most of them can ride (well make move in a straight line) so its at risk, but barely any more then any other desired bike

if you can keep it out of sight that's half the battle, but with so many things if they want it bad enough they will find a way, i would get it alarmed so you can here it when in the house, and get the best chain and ground anchor your money can stretch too.

Oh well.. I spent money on my bike I should spend 3-5% of the bike value on the proper security lock.

In my local bike shop there are Oxford locks.. are they any good? Those Almax ones I can order online though.

oxford aint the best by a long chalk but still better than nothing !

Squire chains and locks are supposed to be good but have a high price tag too.

No, oxford locks are only a visual deterrant, manual bolt croppers can have them open is under 20 seconds as shown on the almax website.
Almax or pragmasis i think are another name on the same level as almax

Really? I would have thought it would be a more off road orientated 125 like a DT or something.

I'll buy Almax after I get my salary. Until then I'll park it only at home. Confused

What's your source for this? I'd be surprised if it is.

Another vote for Almax here, pricey, but you'll see why when you get it Smile

My bike has a system 3 alarm, the shed it lives in is alarmed, I have various locks and chains and the car blocking the shed doors is alarmed. Can't be too careful no matter what the bike is.

Can't remember to be honest with you, might have been word of mouth or on the internet, nothing concrete.

hi,
perhaps the reason its so widely stolen, (apart from being desirable) is the fact that if someone like me, ie not a bike thief, can hotwire it with a pair of nail clippers in under 10 seconds?
get an alarm/immobiler & the best locks you can afford.
cheers,
GAZ

Gotta say I agree there, considering how bad car vandalisation is here, i've not had any issues with the bike thankfully.
