Waterproof clothing

Does anyone have any reccomendations, or cheap waterproof clothing that could be bought?
2 piece suits? 1 piece?
A friend of mine uses some Ski trousers a friend gave to him, apparently bought from asda.
Infinity have a 1piece waterproof oversuit for £10 which I'm tempted to purchase...
Oxford have there 'bone dry' oversuit that has an attached bag so you can crumple it and carry it around. But its rather expensive (around £45).

I'm now wondering if any sports shops (like JJB, soccer sports etc)sell tracksuits/trousers that are waterproof? Not bothered on the brand, long as it does the job.

Or maybe ski/outdoor clothing from places like T.K.Max etc...

At the moment in clothing is a leather jacket (which I'm borrowing from said friend), gloves. Going to get me some boots tomorrow.

Have a look at Aldi/Lidl and see if they have any of their biker specials left.

Only issue with ski pants etc is the lack of protection in a off.

Army surplus sould be another source of stuff.

Go to a Blacks, or Millets or any camping shop and get yourself separate trousers and jacket. Cheap and does the job. Mine even came in little stuff bags - very handy. I keep the jacket part under my seat all the time now.

Could anyone tell me if these are good? I did a search, and people seem to give positive responses to cordura gear. £40 seems like a bargain. It beats spending £70 for the hein Gericke ones...

get to your local hein gericke and try on a boost jacket.
includes proper ce armour in elbows and shoulders.

dont put a price on safety..
youy never know when your gear may save you in a spill..

Mmm, I was thinking to myself I either buy one of those (cordura).
Or I go to Hein Gericke and get the boost jacket or the Classic Blouson one. Can't decide between the 2 HG ones

There is either Sheltex or Gortex
Sheltex you will sweat, and it may leak if not looked after.
Gortex is garenteed not to leak providing you use nixwax to clean after a few months.
I have the cheap & cheerfull oversuits -= 2 peice for around £50 and it dose its job.

At the very minimum Louise I need a jacket that will last me until Jan 2009 (or the MCN show). as I will have more money around that time. All the Goretex jackets are beyond my budget. So for the moment, £70 is the very most I will spend on a jacket until I run into more funds in Jan.

Why don't you just buy a proper set of biker textiles from a proper bike shop? I bought some over a year ago and they're still going strong despite several meetings with the floor.

With the above two jackets your looking at they will both do the same job.
I would be more inclined to go for the boost as it is a longer jacket and will cover your back.
The blouson is a shorter one, im 5'11 and fits me nice but my style of riding I would get a cold back pretty fast.
If you can extend your budget to £129.99 there is the paddock jackets that are on sale. Gortext lining (if removed you will get wet) but it gives the added option of keeping dry no matter how much rain you go through.

Yeah, I was thinking that (about the boost). I wont be able to stretch (not till the new year). Still need to get some decent trousers too. My bum ends up freezing!

Indecisive me, I've still not decided on what jacket to buy. I've allowed myself a little bit more money. So now I'm torn between these 2 jackets.

Well leathers arnt usually warm and waterproof, and they are a bitch to dry out properly.

And hence the thread title is for waterproof your going to have to go textile, or leather and a 1 peice or 2 peice oversuit.

I have the PS classic but only for warmer days.
I would choose the Craig. Very popular and Ive know a guy who has come off twice within a few months and has re-brought this kit. It did what it needed to.
