I don't like the BNP.
I don't like nationalism or xenophobia.

However, I do like the thought that people can be free to believe what they choose.

It is when they'd like me to believe in the same things, be it by intimidation or the law, that I draw the line.

To repeat that old phrase -

IMO a more mature attitude to the knee-jerk reactions you get today (mostly via the media).

My point is that this seems awfully like McCarthyism. Just because someone holds rather wierd political views does not mean they should have to live in fear of losing their job.

I do not propose to silence them. They have a right to think and believe what they like and no question about it, but knowing who they are and avoiding them can prevent a lot of future heartache and trouble.

Be prudent, not dictatorial.

On a further note: Do you think they should be allowed? Just wanting to know other people's opinions. Suppose they use freedom of thought, speech and democarcy to come to power. What then? Do you think they will extend the same courtesy to people who do not believe in their ideas or oppose them? Did Hitler, Mussolini and Mugabe not come to power through democratic elections?

Just something to think about without advocating taking anyones rights away.

Keep it clean and discuss intelligently.

To an extent i agree with you Chris but the trouble is, if your a police officer, doctor or a priest you cannot be discriminate towards minorities as it will interfere with your work and ultimately can affect decision you need to make in your work.

For example, all though a doctor who's a member of the BNP may well help, treat and try his best to save someones life, no matter the minority or race, would he fight as hard for that medication that will improve quality of life as he would for a fellow BNP member or the standard white, British Caucasian male?

And I agree with Chris and add, just because someone is a member of the BNP doesn't make them a racist, I know a couple of people who've voted BNP or UKIP simply as a protest vote, cos they prefer some of their policies to the governing parties, admittedly joining the party is a step further.

They live at number 3, I live at 11. In a row of terraced houses.

The area is renowned for it, they hold their red white and blue festeval yards from me for the last 2 years.
