New Quads getting a little 'fruity'?

I'm buying a road quad at some point in the future and a quick eBay search came up with these grand inventions Neutral as nice as the alloys may look, how exactly is one expected to be able to turn the thing? surely it'd be far worse than a car without power-steering and large alloys wheels (which is bad enough as it is).

Strangely enough I find them quite attractive to look at...

On loose surface, with knobblies, they'd be a blast. I've ridden the 2-stroke 250s and they were an absolute hoot. Thumbs Up

Nevermind power steering and large wheels without a rear diff they are gonna be a right pain in the arse cornering fast especially with the bigger tyre's.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't this improve cornering because there would be more contact from the Quad with the road-surface. I've been told by other Quad bike owners with regular tyres that their Quad over-steers a lot. I assumed this was to counter that problem but I can see it being quite heavy to turn, especially at low speeds.

P.S I actually think it sounds pretty nice for a 4-stroke, single cylinder...

One must grow some arm muscles. Cars didn't always have power steering.

In my brief experience, I don't think so - with a solid rear axle and rear-wheel-drive, I found to get a decent medium-speed turn on tarmac I had to really work at it. It basically wound up with me throwing my bodyweight into the turn enough that one of the rear wheels would lift or at least start to slip, and then the turn's easier.
Otherwise you just wind up with the locked back wheels trying to drive you straight forward all the time.

Turning the wheels whilst static I wouldn't be too worried about - you've a fair amount of leverage at the bars, and it's not like you've a massive amount of weight pressing the tyres into the tarmac.

id be more worried that are are not any 'make'. Id advise you go for a well known brand like suzuki, yam etc. got a feeling the products you linked to are the quad equivelent of the jinlun etc bikes that we usual tell people not to buy.

Very true, a scary prospect if these are poorly built. I wouldn't like the idea of something snapping whilst I'm trying to ride that thing. Neutral

Try 30 year old 2 ton Land rovers with 750X16 tyres then complain. Old Ford Fiesta's are easy and if you think they are heavy you REALLY need to build some muscle mass. Well that or learn to edge slightly back and forth while steering at low speed.

At Jenks: I do intend to ride a side-car at some point, I didn't think they'd be particularly hard to turn though to be honest.
