Are HID lamps legal on bikes... because im looking at a 99 FZR for my first bike and i hate the look of the yellow filters fitted to the headlamps at the moment. they are going to get changed out but i might aswell upgrade them to something with a bit more umph to get me home at night.

So... HID bulbs legal on bikes?

they are illigal unless supplied from new.

although i doubt any one is ever going to do you for a having a HID kit unless you are riding around with high beam on and blinding people.

Hid are supposed to be self leveling, So unless fitted as standard your unlikely to get a sel leveling one (which would required the whole light assebly to be changed, and made fo that bike).

just fit the upgrade kit in such a way so that when it's MOT time you can pop the original bulb in Very Happy

Som hid kits are better than others with reagrds to beam pattern just have a play with the aim until th cagers stop flashing at you !

MOT has nothing to do with legality, If the beam pattern is ok then the bike will pass if it isn't then the bike will be dazzling other drivers anyway and shouldn't be on the road. Wink
