Strong engines and nicer chassis than the 900 / 1000. Tubby and slow compared to modern stuff, not that stuff like that bothers me. Like most classics, the closer to OE the better, although most will be wearing a trendy 4-1 pipe by now. Personally the fact that it's tuned, which may or may not make it pokier than standard would put me off unless it was cheap, like under a grand.

Also be prepared for a shock with the handling.

Z650s have two positions, bolt upright and pegs down. You corner by alternating between the two.

Oh, and there's one in the bike breakers in Plymouth.

That's about all I know about them really, my "thing" is the 750 twins. Nice looking bikes though!

Fitting 26mm carbs was a fairly common mod back in the day, either from a GS or a bigger Z ('76 Z900's came with 26's). I've 2 or 3 5gal buckets full of Z900/1000/650/750 carbs..
