Like a 2.5% cut in vat makes any diffrence.......

Gas and Eletric is already at 5%
Most foods & kids cloths are vat free.....

So how the hell he thinks that 2.5p in the £ is going to make people go out and spend is beyond me....

So, high fuel prices make everything more expensive. The tobacco and alcohol industries are home based and still getting hit, so no help for UK jobs.

And worse, less people smoking and drinking means more people living longer, hence larger pensions costs and higher NHS costs.

All the best

That it wasn't just fuel duty raised. Do pay attention, 007.

as the price of oil falls he will keep the price of fuel at 90p. even if it drop another $30 a barrel

and as Mr Petulance has already said "What's the chances of the duty coming back down when VAT goes back to 17.5%"

But if he increases tax right now the price of fuel will go up. What happens if the price of oil doesn't drop and it starts to rise again. We'll still have higher fuel duty Evil or Very Mad

This is exactly why Labour need to be voted out their useless, we had an economic boom and rather than save some money back just in case they blew it all. Now the country is in a stupid amount of debt and they still can't work out how to fix it.

Quote:
The cut in VAT comes into effect on Monday in time for Christmas shopping.

With alcohol and fuel going up it'll be more expensive than if VAT stayed at 17.5%, you buy a lot of alcohol at xmas and to drive to the shops you'd have to spend more on fuel.

We're not saving anything, the government are only out to make more money. How about they cut their own fucking wages to put money back in the country, oh no sorry £100k a year is far too little to live on Rolling Eyes especially when you have 2 4x4's and a porsche to pay for.

Hi

What is particularly nasty is that VAT can be claimed back on transport but not fuel duty. So by reducing VAT and increasing fuel duty distribution costs will increase, including the distribution of VAT exempt things such as food and childrens clothing.

So expect the costs of essentials to be increased by this budget.

All the best

Keith

So essentially we are no better off and the government have increased tax overall?
