Muffs/Handgaurds are the only way to keep your hands warm.

Don't ride if you don't have to.

My name is Pyx_e and I even have to get up in the morning and ride my bike. I have a 60 mile a day habit, my family are suffering because I sepnd all my money on my bike (and all theirs). If I don't go for a ride I get all shakey, paranoid and sad, I kick the kitten and punch people in the tits.

DON'T HAVE TO?????!!!!!! WTF

Jet Road GTX gloves are officially the best things ever, I hear a lot of good things said about the chunky HG 3 finger jobbies too, Pathans or something?

As for tips, eh, just be sure your gear is up to keeping you warm and dry, ride smoothly and sensibly and keep your bike clean or put something between the salt and metal Smile

Until the ice hits, winter isn't so bad.

Wear wrist (Tennis/Squash) 'sweat' bands to keep the draught from between gloves and sleeves.

Wear thin 'magic' gloves under a pair of fairly big (to allow blood circulation) bike gloves to keep fingers warmer than with only one pair.

Wear two neck-warmers -one thin and one thick.

P1ssed pedestrians !

Especially on the run up to christmas when everyone piles down the pub for a few lunchtime drinks which turns into a few more and then they stagger back to the office.

Also applies to the morons who then decide that the sly snooze in the supply cupboard has removed all traces of the 4 pints they had at lunch and drive home.

Always wear windproof clothes and gloves.

Always watch for diesel/gravel/wet manhole covers.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Unless you're a riding god, smooth riding is a life saver on cold wet/damp roads, no sudden jerky inputs or the bike will not so politely tell you where to get off.
Observation is a winner too as always, but more so in winter. Spotting a patch of wet leaves on the line you were going to take is better done early so you've got time to react etc Thumbs Up

Anybody got any?

Mine would be :-

- Wrap up warm (never have to many layers)
- Don't ride if you don't have to.
- Always have enough petrol (not fun pushing a bike from the middle of now where because you forgot to fill up or thought it would last.)

Fuck me, what wise words! I'm completely sorted for winter now! Rolling Eyes

Not matter how good the gloves if you are riding when it is really cold for more than 30mins you will end up with cold hands, I have the HG 3 finger things and they are ok but nothing special.
I have hand gaurds which keep the wind off but your hands still get a little cold after a while (I usualy ride at 11pm/7am)
