Just got off the phone to the above mentioned company as i had to cancel my insurance cos i sold the cbr, i was told by the foppish halfwit on the phone that as i was cancelling they would be keeping a percentage and there would also be a cancellation fee of £30, so when i asked if i would be getting any of the £168 i'd paid for 12 months, he replied yes, they will refund £8 to my debit card. nice!

all that after they charged me £25 less than 2 months ago to change my address, CHEEKY BASTARDS.

so in all its cost me £185 to get 5 months of insurance, i for 1 shall certainly NOT be giving bennetts any more of my hard earned even if they only quote me 1p per decade on the worlds most expensive to insure bike!!!!

Sorry bout the rant had to get it off my chest

thank you, good night!!!!

Its called admin charges, expensive yes but its quite clearly on the first few pages of your renewal. The only real way to get some money back is to pay all in one go rather than DD.

also, the admin charge was the £30 cancellation fee, so where does "we keep a percentage of the policy cost" come from?

they're just a bunch of thievin pikey fucknuts!!!!!

You hung up without getting more money because?

thats the exact gist, how could i possibly have got more money back? i spoke to the standard script reading retard then one slightly higher up the food chain, the response was the same from both of them. what can you do if you're getting stone walled at every turn, if they aint gonna give you the money then so be it.
I just feel aggrieved that they keep a percentage of the remaining 7 months of the policy to make money as i have paid the full cost in one hit rather than get stung with intrest on monthly dd payments, then they have the audacity to chargme 30 more pound to cancel the policy. its just typical of rip off britain.

I got sick of using the big boys, now I pay ever so slightly more (£30 in total for car and four bikes) for a local broker, who changes all my details for free, and fights my corner if the insurers try ripping me off. Middle Finger the big companies!

You agreed to all this when you took the policy out. Unlucky.

All you need to do is a search for Bennetts on here, nobody has anything good to say about them. Unfortanately, it's not just a Bennetts thing, all the robbing bastards are doing the same, you know why? Because there's fuck all we can do about it.

£25 to change your address details? Cunts, all of them, end of.

Carole Nash sent me my renewal, £149 TPFT. I went on their website as a new customer and my quote was £90. After some ringing round they matched a quote of £108 Fully comp. They would have happily turned me over if I hadn't have rung round. Bastards.

Harold_Shand's theory might be the best explanation.

That does sound like a rip off. I cancelled my insurance after a month and got it all back! every single penny from autoline..eventually. Shorter time space but you should be owed for the other 7 months.

exactamundo, but apparantley according to bennetts t&cs, (which i admit i didn't read and never do with insurance companies as its all technical jargon pish) they can keep a percentage of the cost of the remaining policiy if the policy is cancelled. in reality i paid £168 for 12 months, cancelling after 5 should give me £98 back, so even if they charge £30 admin then i should by rights get £68 back at least.

Was it the first year you were with them or was it a renewal?

You always get a extra hammering in the first year of a policy.

I've noticed a trend in this, but I can understand why, lots of people want short term insurance (1 month etc) which just isn't profitable for companies. I can see the insurance companies side when people cancel their policy mid-term.

Bennets have quoted me a renewal of £198, a quick search on confused.com and thebikeinsurer.com got that down to £96. Thieving buggers.

Wot Harold_Shand says.

Only try the search with 'Bennetts' and either 'cunts', 'bastards' or 'wankers'.

My advice? Avoid Bennetts like the plague, and never trust the rest of the insurers.

You have to work around their theiving techniques, I too chopped a good amount off my renewal with Carole Nash by doing a new quote online.

I have never paid over £70 for insurance and thank god. Joys of being female and over 25 I think. And that £70 was dear as it was a newer bike and not mine with a differet company. They took 13 weeks to refund though. My Oh ended up paying £130 for the same company and he is a year older than me. Yes its sexist but I cant complain.

Unfortunatly if its on their t&c nothing you can do, I never look at them either.

If you need to add a bike to a policy halfway through, there's no way around that.

That's right people, only sell your bike and buy a new one on the day your policy expires. It is a complete logistical nightmare but it could save you £30. Rolling Eyes

I got lucky with Bennetts on my Raleigh, the refunded the full amount after 3 weeks.

I'm still with them because when I buy bikes I intend to keep them for the whole year.
