Coming home from work, was going along at a cheerful pace. Car on the pavement on the other side of the road pulls off of th pavement, and onto the road (going same direction as me) into the lane in front of me. Queue me standing on the brakes HARD. Managed to lose enough speed not to hit him, was very close though.

Lost the front wheel about an inch away from him though. RH side is scratched up to buggery, and my R&G bent backward and cracked the mounting point for the panel. Rear brake lever is a banana now too. RH side of th nose cone has been scuffed up too. £259 for a new one from david silvers Sad Going to go take a look on ebay, see if i can find a new fairing panel.

Though about going back to the scene tomorrow, to see if the same black fiesta is parked on the pavement, outside one of the houses. Think it'd be clutching at straws tbh, because i admitted to the 2 women who were behind me (and stopped to see if i was ok) that i was going too fast. Although no-one took witness details. Also, the black fiesta didnt stop.

I'm also over 33bhp. Think i'd just end up fucking myself if i went after anything. Oh well Sad

Oh, also i'm ok. Just hurt my jaw a bit and bit my lip. I landed on my chin you see, and smacked my jaw against the inside of my lid. The foam inside did it's job! has a chin impression in it now, lol. Will et some pics tomorrow in the daylight.

Going to go down to HG and pick up a new lid, this ones done it's job.

Ride safe.

Bad luck mate.
Just for your information, I have been told that despite the fact you were speeding, the car driver would still be at fault for entering your path. This is only word of mouth and nothing concrete, but I think aslong as you wasn't excessively speeding, you would have a case.
Even if you decide not to do anything in legal terms, go back like you said, and if the car is there then cause some mayhem Very Happy

Yeah. Dont think i'll bother with legal stuff. I stand to lose too much.

Riding outside of 33bhp, and speeding...

If anyone can find me a CBR600F-X or F-Y 1999 ~ 2000 RH fairing panel, in Red / Blue like mine, i'll love you long time. Having trouble turning anything up on ebay. Might ping davi silvers a mail to see if h can get one.

Thanks.

Bad news mate, glad you're relatively okay. Thumbs Up

No. 1 rule in an accident situation: say nothing with regard to the accident. Check others are okay, exchange details, but say nothing to incriminate yourself.

A general rule of thumb regarding accidents is that, you have to be in a position to stop safely on your side of the road, regardless of the hazard. And if you hit something it's usually your fault especially if you've gone into the back of them.

If you don't mind waiting a couple of weeks silvers can get it free of VAT, I did that when ordering panels for my old NSR.

Uploading some pics now.

Managed to get the crash bung off without snapping the bolt in the frame, so that's good. The mounting point of the fairing came off with a large bit of plastic around it, so i've got some fibre glass matting and resin, and i'm going to have a go at bodging it back together. New panel from silvers, £298 exl. vat.

Got the inner bar weight out too, so £8 for a new one, instead of £45 for a new clipon Thumbs Up Smile

Bodge it, then buy a new fairing when the weather gets better!

That's the plan. Going to grab a new panel during the week, but if i can do a satisfactory bodge, the knackered panel will stay on for the winter.

dude.

buy the spare bannel by all means, but dont fit it until you absolutely have to or sell the bike.

sods law means you will replace the damage and then anothe accident will occur.

just get it rideable just to get through winter and the bad weather, then replace when summer comes and you want to be a tart at bike meets etc.

That doesn't look too bad at all. If I were you I'd just replace the indicator, bend the rear brake lever back and be done with it. Only bother repairing the fairings when you come to sell it.

Heh. Yeah, but considering it was mint before, i'm still pretty gutted. R&Gs are worth their weight in gold!

My old lid oesn't have much to show, but it was more of an impact than a slide on my face. Hit hard enough for it to push my chin into th inside of the chinbar!

Also, bloke at my local HG said he's got an old Akra slip-on from his CBR600F Sport. (2004 model iirc). Said i can have it for £50. What you think? I think i might just have it for that price...

Yeah, can is standard atm.

I understand the idea behind keeping the tatty panel on it, but... I'm proud of keeping my bike nice, and i don't want to have to see all that damage every time i look at it.

If i do get the can, and it does fit my bike, i won't be able to use it until my restriction is up, as it woul invalidate my restriction cerificate.

Although i guess be actually unrestricted does that too Laughing Still, if i'm not legal, the best i can do is LOOK and SOUND legal.

Might not look that bad, but to get it back to how it was is going cost about £500~£600, plus £360 for a new lid. Parents an sister both gave me £100 towards that though :')

Get the can!

You probably won't have to do any jetting or anything done to the bike. And it will sound so much nicer! 50 quid is CHEAP. Especially for an akra.

Coming from a fellow over 33bhp with a stupidly loud exhaust (and I mean really really fucking loud Laughing )
