Hi,

Well last nights journey home was proberbly the scaryist journey i have ever made from work. Was going down the A43 from northampton though patchy fog, not very thick and just outside kettering bammm the fog was so thick i could'nt see 10 feet in front of me and neither could the rest of the cars as i had few that had wondered on to myside of the road one nearly hitting the twat that overtook me near a junction. I glanced at my speedo to check my speed ( 30mph ) and noticed that my visor was all misted up. Had to ride the rest of journey with it open, about 12 miles including a blast down the A14, boy was that uncomftable. Thumbs Down

My question is, is there anyway you can stop the inside of your visor misting up while riding in fog? Or is it something we bikers have to live with.Is there something i can do to prevent this from happening? Oh and my helmet is a caberg trip if that helps.

Pinlocks dude!

Work really well, I've got it on my Nolan helmet, I think you might be able to get a visor with it on.

No worries. If they don't do one for your helmet its maybe worth swapping for one that you can get a pinlock for - especially if your riding through the winter - on mine I can have the vents shut and visor fully down and not get any mist/fog/steam on the inside at all. Even when chucking it down with rain.

Is very very handy and actually works.

I got a universal DIY one from racevisors.co.uk. Instructions are total crap but really not that hard to fit once you know how!

I hear that freezing fog is the worst... you get wet from normal fog, now imagine that water freezing over your visor! What the fuss do you do then?

Fingers crossed it won't be as cold tomorrow morning for my trip to the NEC.

Pinlock works great. I think your problem is the outside of your visor misting over though because of the water vapour (fog)in the air. This happened to me last night so I had to ride with my visor open for about 25 miles until I got home.

Short of wiping it with your glove/thumb wiper blade... I don't think there's anything you can do... please correct me if I'm wrong!! I'd love to know.

Foggy Riding is a cunt, all i can say is make sure u have plenty of hi-vis on, plenty of reflective bits and take it slow.

Good luck, be safe, go forth, be strong

I use Rain-X wipes on the outside of my visor, helps with fog as the moisture beads eventually. It also means that it's a lot easier to wipe whilst riding, as the moisture just rolls off the visor.

I rode in fog three times last week, one morning and two evenings. It was so bad on the M5 Friday evening that I got off and came up the A38 instead.

The one thing that I learnt the hard way was that no matter how bad the mist is on the front of your visor - do not open it to try to see better. You just end up getting a face full of mist and when you shut the visor the inside is misted up too!

If I'm concerned that there's someone behind me that hasn't seen my lights I'll tap the brake light every now and again to make the rear brake light flash.
