I had to hit the link twice as it asked for money first in case anyone cant see thread.

I would have said its unbelivable but it isnt as its happened here plenty of times where its taken police days to call to someone thats needed help. Either there is a shortage of police or their priorities are messed up.

Our police station is only open 2 days a week I think after 6, rest the time there is no one there to take your call and if you call the city one you will be waiting a long time. They actually tell you to wait till your own station is open to make a statement.

It happened down the road from us in Anglesey a few months ago - the local shop was robbed by a chap holding a screwdriver, threatening the staff there - he got away with about 50 quid. As soon as he left the shop, the woman behind the counter phoned the old bill and was told "sorry, they're all on the bridge at the moment" - the brige being one over the A55 where the speed traps sit and hide!
Someone turned up 45 minutes later to take a statement!!!

Not that I'm defending the old bill but when I was hit by a car that failed to stop they were there pretty quickly and followed me to A&E and also rang me later to make sure I was okay.

Granted they gave me a producer and told me to go to a station that was shut but still.

It's widely accepted that happy 'customers' will tell far fewer people about their good experiences of a service than unhappy ones will disseminate their bad experience.

That doesn't mean that the Police acted correctly in any of the situations mentioned - it just means you have to put those incidents in a wider context.

You also have to factor in people re-imagining those events in order to get their (anti-plod) point across.

they do have targets but how these targets aresplit I'm not too sure of.

I do know however that motorists are targeted as being "easy".

Now by this I mean, the police have targets for charging/cautioning people and they target motorists because there are some many charges possible and the motorists "just accept it".

all of the above was told to me by a current serving officer in scotland

he even told me of how they put wagers on at the begining of shifts to see who can get most people booked.

make of that what you will

Its true what the guy said on the other forum. It isnt down to the individual police officers on what they do.

My Dad's a cop, and he is so frustrated with his job at the moment its stressing him out.

I was ranting to him last night about my Job. That we get 2 Test calls a day, And 1 Mystery Shopper a week.

He was saying when he goes a a house for domestic violence now. He obviously has to go in, arrest the offender. Upset the family etc by doing so. And once he's done what he has to do. He has to give the family some forms to fill in. On their opinion on the police officers work, What they thought about it etc.

Then once hes back at the station etc, Somebody then phones the house to ask them family what they thought about the way they were treated by the police officer.

Then he's got piles and piles of paper work to get on with. Rolling Eyes

He gets very little time to drive around and look for people causing trouble. Once he has finished with one Call, He has another pending.

Not sure if its like this everywhere. But here in Rochester (Kent Police) it is.

Quite beliveable, got told about the police call when a man saw some yoofs breaking into his shed, he phoned the coppers and asked them to come down and arrest them to be told there was no police available at the moment. So he put the phone down, phoned back 2 mins later saying hes going to shoot them with his rifle. about 2 minutes later 3 poice cars and 2 firearms vans turned up. Even tho they had no available police? Laughing
Think the chap got in trouble for lying about the rifle thing tho Laughing

That story's been doing the rounds for years in one form or another. If it was ever true, could it be that those police weren't available - they were retasked from other, more urgent incidents than a shed?

9/10 people tell others about a bad experience.
1/10 tells others about a good one.

Thumbs Up

the police dont make the rules, the government do. If theres any blame to be laid, its squarely at the feet of governement and their targets. Im sure the police want nothing else than to actually be able to get somewhere with their jobs rather than just filling out endless shitty forms.
