I've never seen a 145w bulb... only 80/100w, 90/130w and 100/160w in H4 type. I've got a 90/130w fitted at the moment. Did you change the wiring loom over for a relayed connection to the battery? If not your going to trash the wiring pretty fast and the voltage drop will be huge meaning the lights anywhere near as bright as they could be. Is this bulb one of the 55/60w = 100/130 types with blue tint and such?

Or is this the combined power of the foglights? I'm confused as to how you would get 145w when two fog lights at 55w is 110w...

You have fog lights linked into your highbeam? Why!? Get a spot/driving light if anything.

Relayed I presume?

can you list what lights you have on your bike as I'm slightly confused... e.g

2 foglights - 55w each
1 headlight - 60w high beam, 55w low beam

You should have just bought HID kits if you wanted illumination and illegality combined - I swapped mine over to halogens for the MOT and guess what, i'm back on my HID's now - I really DO hate riding in the dark especially through unlit sections... I would have gone for the HID option regardless - the HID ballast is the only thing that draws the greatest voltage, but after that, it'll only draw 35W.

Show pics of your setup and how you installed it? HID installation is relatively easy so I just want a comparison.

Why?

What bike is this on? Thats a good 12 amps your drawing instead of the 3 amps the generator was designed for. Keep an eye on the battery.

As said you are going to plunge yourself into darkness when you go onto high beam.

I have 55w fogs fitted for poor visibility I also have 100w uprated bulbs in my spot lights fitted to turn on with my high beam.

Can't wait to see the guide because then I'll do it to my bike! Wouldn't want to touch her without some instructions to follow.

Any chance of a link to them on the net as well? Need to get some in.

Cheers

If it's one single file then I'd upload it to Rapidshare personally, their servers are fast and you don't have to pay to use them. If it's in multiple files then get a program called WinRAR and add all the files to an archive then upload the single file Smile

If you can't do it still you could always hit me up on MSN and I'll host it for you.

He probably took the feed from the low beam to power the relay so he couldn't use the extra lights when the low beam is off. The main feed for the 2x55w lamps comes from the battery.

2 extra 55w lamps will draw around 10amps extra so i'd be weary about burning out the charging system as the load will exceed the charging capacity and the capacity of the battery.

I'd wire it so that one came on with low beam and the other with hi beam. There should be an extra 4 or 5 amps spare to power one.

Point 145 watts at me and I might just drive into you for a fucking laugh.....

IMHO 55/60W as per most halogen setups is perfectly adequate on bikes unless the reflector design is shit, in which case putting a bulb brighter than the sun in won't really help.

Jesus you're a moody cunt!

Fog lights aren't on 24/7 with the low beam! He can turn them on/off without switching from beam to high beam.

Also, the lights on the GTR's are really shit. But the bulbs in them are quite shit (not very bright) so just changing bulbs, especially for HID will help. It's mainly the projector style lights that's the problem though.
