Just wondering how many of you lot totally strip your chain of skanky old lube and give it a good clean.
Was going to get pics but i forgot.
I was wondering if it can cause any shortage on the chain life i did lube it uip rather well afterwards
And this degreaser is the absolute bomb this shit actually is amazing works well on wheels to just make sure you hose it off well

A small bucket, a paint brush, a toothbrush and a load of kerosene. Whack it into the chain to get most of the muck off then leave it soak for a few minutes then pressure wash it off. Hey presto a spangly new shiny chain. Ish.
Yoshimoto Chain Wax Gold also makes a shitty old chain look like a new chain and even new plain chains look the shiz. ____________________ Current bike: VTR1000F Firestorm. Previous: Firestorm (written off) - XJ600 Divvy - NSR125 - DT125 and a load of offroaders. |

I LOVE Wurth brake and chain cleaner. I go through about 3 cans a week in the workshop. It's awesome for cleaning engine components aswell as brakes. I absolutely swear by the stuff although I never use it on chains. The best bit is that it evaporates really quickly so you can carry on without having to dry anything.
It's fun when you get it in your eyes too; it stings like hell but you know it's at least giving your eyeballs a good clean. ____________________ Current bike: VTR1000F Firestorm. Previous: Firestorm (written off) - XJ600 Divvy - NSR125 - DT125 and a load of offroaders. |

used to use white spirits on the chain, worked in with a toothbrush - now just used good old kerosene - 4 litres for 6 quid - admittedly diesel is cheaper... i think my mate knows where to get his hands on a supply of red ... in which case, i'll use that when my kerosene runs out... Old rag to remove the excess and lubed vigorously whilst riding using a cheapo chain oiler/dispenser with 10W40 oil in it. Does the job and it looks spangly. ____________________ The Tot 2019 Z1000SX - 2007 R1

Paraffin is your friend.
5 litres for £4 and that will last years, many years.
As said before just use a tooth brush, I bought an electric tooth brush from Poundland. Works a treat ____________________ I've a twin and a 4. |
