Looking after my chrome exhaust

I have bought a 1999 Honda cg 125 and its in great condition just wondering if any of you veterans can give me any tips on how to keep my wheels and exhaust shining they are both chrome?.

Do not use any acid on chrome as it will fuck it up, wash it with water only and it will be fine

WD40 will burn off(been there done that... ) but it will easily remove the crap off it, on the down pipes its difficult to apply something to them to stop shite from sticking to them.

By burn on I guess he meant it'll burn on and leave a shitty mark. WD40 or FS365 shouldn't leave any marks when it burns off.

While we're here...

... the chrome plating on my heat shield is coming off, exposing the nickel underneath. How can I stop any more from peeling off?

Also, I'm considering painting the shield black having got on top of the plating issue, how would I go about that? What paint is best and is there any preparation required other than cleaning the damn thing?

some guy told me to put vaseline on my rims and exhaust to keep them in good nick ?

you can put vaseline on all the parts that are likely to rust, as it deflects liquid
