Failed. Completely.

I'm really annoyed with myself because my riding was atrocious today. I found myself cursing myself under my helmet. Like he asked me to pull up safely to the left, and I pull up opposite a junction - then I notice it and I'm like, "you fucking idiot" - I never do that, why the heck do something so stupid on the test.

And also, it was forecast fog, but there was a fucking bright sun (but a bitterly cold day: I have 5 pairs of socks on) - meaning I couldn't see very well on some roads which were wet from morning rain! I'm not making excuses, but riding to the test centre and having to dip my helmet to block the sun didn't exactly inspire me with confidence...

The weather didn't help, but the truth is, I was really really shit. I can ride ten times better than I did.

I racked up a total of 12 faults.
1 serious for 4 minor late indications.
1 serious for a wheel lock on the stop. I'm a little pissed off here because the examiner left about twenty metres for me, so I was over concentrating on building up speed. But I'm an idiot, I should have stuck to 15-20 mph. It was the ideal chance for an easy controled stop, but seeing the examiner just round the bend that I turned on the round the block, I guess I kinda panicked and tried to do to much.

II should really have been given a serious for the above "safe
stop" but I guess the examiner felt he might as weel overlook it.

All in all, I'm really fucking pissed off with myself. All in all, it was one of those rides when I was "fuck fuck fuck" ing under my helmet, making so many stupid and pointless mistakes that I haven't made since my first fucking week on the bike. I was even shaking my head and sighing animatedly during the ride, completely irritated with how bad I was.

The only real plus is that I didn't get any minors for observation, the u turn, etc, even though my observation felt to me as shit as everything else was.

Help me out here folks. I feel fucking shit now.

Don't worry about it matey - I know that sounds like crap advice but you'll only keep beating yourself up.

A similar thing happened to me when I had a day's instruction once, I rode really badly. The instructor was a total arsehole and it just threw me and obliterated my confidence. I think that when a couple of little things happen - like in your case bad weather, stopping in the wrong place etc, it screws up everything else.

Honestly though, learn from it and move on!

How long do I need to wait before I can take the test again? I want to crack on with a second effort, asap. If I have to wait months, I'm just going to end up wasting more of my life practising fucking u turns all day long.

On a positive note, I know I can ride better and even though I racked up the minors, I was actually - if I think about it - quite close to passing (yes, yes, stick with me here, it's called postive thinking. all the rage).

1. Pulling up at a junction. Stupid mistake. I'm not likely to do it again on the test.
2. Indicating too late. I've had no lessons, so I've had no one to advise me on this. Now that I know it's a problem, I can easily correct it.
3. The stop. I get this right 9 times out of ten in practise. I just didn't on the test. However, I could have got it so right today if only I didn't panic like a mong when I saw the examiner just round the corner from the bend, expecting me to do a stop before I'd even have a chance to build up any speed! Hence I was trying to rush to 25 when I should have been focusing on the stop.

Chalk it up to experience and book another test asap. You WILL get there in the end. You want it bad enough and just think how much you'll enjoy ripping those L plates off after going through this toil. Chin up! Thumbs Up

unlucky, atleast next time you will know exactly what to expect from the test and shouldn't be as nervous having already done it once, as others say rack it up as an experience and learn from it, next time you take the test you'll be even more prepared and hopefully pass.

I havn't done CBT, but on my driving test, HGV, test, and THREE DAY train driving test, I learned one thing.....you only have to get it right on the day, and then you're sorted.....

So what about you....?

You've got the rest of your life to look back on the 'fail', and then the 'pass'....how many years is that...?

So the next two weeks is absolutly bugger all time, and you need to relax with the next one.

It's like I say to people during lessons...you're learning a skill, which now is taking ALL of your concentration, and when you pass, you'll never even give this stuff a moments thought.

You've said you know you can do it, and you knewwhilst doing it that you were crap......try this....next time know that you're good and ready, and know that you'll pass.....

Positive mental attitude will help you.. GOOD LUCK!! Very Happy

There is no such thing as "Failed. Completely" all you did was miss the pass, whether thats because of 1 major or 15 minors look at it as a way of being told this is what you need to do before your next test and you will be fine.

Maybe a days proper training with a riding school might be a wise investment before taking the test again.
