It depends on the person, but really the slower it comes off, the longer it stays off. I went from 15 stone to 13 stone in a week and a half when working for Shell (long work hours, no breaks and no food)... Got used to it and by the end of the two months I was there was down to 11 1/2 stone. However, when I changed to work in the city for an IT company, I went up to 16 stone Crying or Very sad

If you don't eat properly , you get the probs I had at Shell - dizzy spells, tiredness, and just lack of enthusiasm. It's better to say "I want to loose 2 stone over the next 3 months, and that means I want to lose about 3lbs a week" - a much safer target IMHO.

Half a stone in under a week is a hell of a lot and is probably making her tired, irritable and low on energy. It's not healthy to loose that weight in that time in my opinion. It's a slow process that takes time and commitment..not a few days of not eating much. (assuming that's what she is doing?)
How has she been eating? Health is most important so risking health for a bit of weight loss is not worth it at all.

Is it possible she's telling you this to make you proud of her, or have you seen the loss for yourself?

I'd be a little concerned if it was my girlfriend.

I've lost a stone in a day!
Mostly through doing lots of mountain biking on a hot day and not eating or drinking anything.
Put it on again very quickly... for a start when I drunk 4 litres of juice/water or something stupid.

I went down from 14st 12lb to 13st 2lb in 2 weeks doing the atkins diet. Went back up to 13st 11lb in about 7 months then went back on the diet for 1 week and dropped back to 13st 3lb.

I haven't had any problems at all. Just drink lots of water and eat 3 meals a day.

You only put the weight back on quickly if you eat crap, like fast food all the time, and snack between meals. Stick to 3 meals and the weight will stay off.

Of course its also dependent on your metabolism.

Women are funny creatures anyway when it comes to weight. If she is "due on" then she could gain up to a stone in weight due to excess fluids held by the body.

It's said that losing more than 3 pounds a week is unhealthy. I was on a diet and I lost 7 pounds in a week and overall 2 stone 2 pounds in seven weeks, and it has stayed off. Can't say it done me any harm Very Happy
