PostPosted: 22:43 - 05 Dec 2008    Post subject: Brother stole his bike back... Reply with quote

Last year my little brother had his mountiong bike nicked. Pretty expensive, £1000 worth actually, and his mates bike got nicked to. They found a mixed version of there bikes in the next village and got some of there bits back. Sadly my brother only gotthe frame back. The other day my brother saw his and some some of his mates bike bits on the frame of some guy that we knew but couldnt prove had stolen the bikes, stupiud chav ass mother F**cker must of thought we would forget.

So he nicked it back. Is this in anyway illegal?

I'm a bit worried that the guy will find out and will go trash our motorbikes so I have been telling my brother to go tell the police what he has done and stuff but he wont get them involved. Do you think my brother can get done?

As above - yes, this is illegal.

You can be found guilty of stealing your own property.

Thye just happen to be every single bit the same to. pedals, forks, brakes, wheels, tyres and my brothres mates shifter. My brother bought the wheels and the tyres sperate. He also got them costom painted white rims, black spokes and a cherry red hub. The boy has a history for stealing stuff like this. He is a chav. Plus one of his two faced mates told us. Unless said chav has a documentation of purchasing the bike ( which we know he doesn't) there isn't much he can do.

Chances are he has a police record anyway. So what's the chances of him going to the coppers int he first place or the chances of them believing what he says.

Fuck him Middle Finger

You put filler on a £1000 bike? You do realise that your household insurance will prob cover the pushbike and accessories?

It is normally covered in house insurance. In our policy, if we named the bikes we got fully money back for them, if they weren't named we got up to £300 back. Bit late now Rolling Eyes

If you want to invite chavs into your greenhouse, be my guest. I prefer other means of persuasion Smile

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

But then he could get done for handling stolen goods.

Even if you unknowingly buy something that has been stolen, you can still get done for handling stolen goods i believe. If you sell it on to someone else, you could get done for distributing stolen goods.

Colin - I suspect OJ was more in trouble for the violent/armed aspect of his liberation of those 'stolen' items than the actual theft.

Theft of your own property can still be theft though. You can only be guilty of handling stolen goods if you do so dishonestly, with the belief that goods are stolen. Someone buying those items from Ebay at a reasonable price would have an excellent defence in court against any charges, because they could argue that they had no reason to believe the goods were stolen.

I'm not sure, but I'm inclined to believe it involves a lot of optimism and happy thoughts about flowers and kittens.

I'm presuming he meant he had a dented rim, so just filled it in with filler. Not that it would make any difference Laughing

Bit late to worry about that now. If it was me and I bought them legit off Fleabay and found you had stolen them from me I would come knocking.
