Brake Caliper issue!

Right there i was riding along at 30, heard a metal boink noise and lost all front braking.
Couldnt see a issue there and then
Got home and inspected.
Snapped a caliper bolt in half, fluid all over the caliper and the sound of slight rubbing, pictured below

So my questions are why would it have spit brake fluid all over the caliper, as its stripped the thread in the forks could i stick the bolt through and put a nut locktited on the other end to solve it moving again?

+ where is the bloody bleed nipple? pic below, please tell i how to bleed it?

You can buy banjo bolts with a bleed nipple attached to it ....

Or you can bleed them (slowly) at the top take you forever and a day though.

Dont mean to sound stupid but whats a banjo bolt?
and how at the top would it be done, as the rear calipher has a bleed nipple :S

Right see attached pic - have labled the banjo bolt (where the hose goes on, the ????? is what looks like the bleed valve but pics not great quality - some calipers have more then one so check to other side aswell - I have made the mistake before of only bleeding one side and then you end up with really shitty brakes.

Top view,
that bit you think is the bleed nipple is plastic and squeezable not like the one on the back.

- My thoughts exactly - i'm not sure what the rubber bit is on the far side but it doesn't have the hex head bit for the spanner/socket to turn so don't look like a bleed valve to me Smile.

but there is like a thing to use a spanner to undo it, under the plastic bit.

or sometimes called a
Peugeot xp6

It is the front caliper.

Right ok - Assuming at the moment you currently have the caliper and it isn't on the bike grab some newspaper or something that you don't care about (note they'll be some brake fluid around which is REALLY bad for paintwork) undo the bleed valve with a spanner and take it out all the way and then you'll see that the rubber cap hads a little bit from it that goes under and then holds it to the threaded part of the valve - once you've taken it out all the way you'll be able to get the cover off (tbh it'd be easier just to lever it off with a screw driver/grab it with pair of pliers but this way might be easier :S).

Yes tis off as in the pics,
and im not overly concerned about bleeding it just yet, as im more concerned why it pissed fluid all over itself when the bolt snapped?!
before i put back on and risk it failing on me...
and whether i can bodge it back on, or will have to get the forks retapped.

Right, firstly - can you get some better pictures of what exactly it is that's cracked on the caliper to let fluid out? the picture above isn't clear enough to show it above.

as for tapping the forks - i wouldn't want to - a decent bolt on the other end should work but look on ebay first so see if you can get a replacement fork leg - may be able to get them cheapish off a bike being broken. also if you're worried about your brakes there's a replacement caliper on ebay for your bike - add it to your watch list and tbh if it goes below 40 quid i'd just buy it for piece of mind.

Get a pair of pliers on the rubber bit and rip it off, the bleed nipple is below it.
