I bought a car about 2 months ago and got tax for it at the PO. They filled in a form for me to register the car in my name. I've done this before and i got a V5 within a week or so but i still havn't received the V5 for the car i bought 2 months ago.

My mate is also in the same boat but he bought his car about 3 months ago! Shocked

I'm looking to sell the car within the next day or two.. so what will i do?.. is there a form at the PO i can fill in with the new keepers details etc..?

I don't want speeding tickets, parking tickets etc through my door after selling the car!

thanks.

(also, someone told me they issue new style V5's but charge you £20, how true is this?)

What kind of place/person did you buy it from?

If it was me, i would go back to where i bought it and make sure that who ever sold it didn't forgot to send off the V5. Did you get the little green section from the V5?

I dont imagine that you'd have very much success selling a vehicle without the V5 Confused

You can get a new V5 IIRC.

Take the green slip to your post office and ask for a V62. I think that's the right one. They'll contact the old owner asking if they sold the car to you, then you get the V5.

I think that's how it works anway.

Good Luck! Thumbs Up

Have a look here mate;

Give them a call too and see what's going on. I lad I work with waited a couple of months for his, gave them a ring and it turns out they sent it to the wrong address.
