A less selfish gift would probably go down better. Underwear says, 'I wanted to buy you something to show you how much I like to shag you' rather than, 'I wanted to buy you something to show how much I like you'.

You can buy it as an addition to another present, but in my experience when other people buy you underwear it will hardly ever be right in style/size/colour etc and hence will not be worn! Basques are very impractical and there are limited occasions when they can be worn really - the main one of those being in the house (if you get my meaning), which does just say you see her as someone you like to shag.

My OH has never bought me lingerie as he knows he would NEVER get it right, even if I wrote colour size and style down on paper for him.
