Went to the local Tesco garage today to put some air in the tyres...

Pulled up at the free air/water pump.. water and oil everywhere, got off the bike went to put side stand down, slipped and ended up with my friggin bike on top of me!

and a 750 Virago aint no light weight either!

Naturally the station was packed, I felt a right dick thats for sure..

Please tell me I am not the only oen this sort of thing has happened to..

VERY almost went in the car park at work tonight. Came out at about 10:30, started wheeling the bike backwards and my foot slipped on the ice.

Damn roads were more white than black this evening. Not fun, even my tires were covered in ice when I set off.

Same thing, pulled up at my destination on a very quiet street after a 200 mile journey. Desperately wanted to get off the bike so pulled up at the kerb and didn't realise how cambered/deep the gutter was, flicked the stand and as I set it down thats when I realised it was too late - shiny new bike loses its virginity. Poor observation and fatigue led to a silly mistake. The same reason I dropped my training bike too.

Ice causes bikers to look like dicks

I too have been suffering. Luckily not many people saw as I was in my own street, side stand just slipped back up on the icey road surface. Bike goes clunk, luckily it lands on the grassy verge at the the side so very little damage. Still.. looked like a twat

Yeah I almost went over the other day too. Luckily not in a crowded petrol station

Yet to drop the bike this year. Hopefully I can make it to Dec 31 and make it my first every full-year of riding with no drops.

well that makes me feel a little better..

Tyres were still practically cold as its only half a mile down the road... mind you to make matters worse, the fecking air line wouldnt fit on my rear valve so still had to do it at home anyway!

I gave up with petrol stations and bought an Air Monster and as Stinkwheel says, put the stand down then get off, filling station forecourts are notoriously slippy esp. concrete ones.

TIP: Don't go to a pump that dispenses diesel as well as unleaded. Go for the purely unleaded ones. The messy lorry / van drivers seem to make a right mess on the floor and it is very slippery.

similar thing always happens to me

when I come to a stop, put my foot down and it slips becuase the road is icy :S almost lost it a couple of times... especially at traffic lights!

At least its only a damaged ego and not a broken leg, 'ey!
