I have a problem with a back fairing, when I go the bike it had 10 bells kicked out of the back with some amateur hacking it up, however I have rebuilt most of it and its looking like its original self.

My problem is that two lugs were hacked off the back fairing and I really need to replace them as it what needs to hold it together.

My first thought is using a piece of metal bent to shape then fibre glassing it on to hold in place.

But I wanted to see if anyone came up with a better idea.

AS you can see from the image both sides need done.

Hi

As above, but consider finding a scrap fairing panel to donate some plastic to "glue" on . Fair change that the bolts used there as standard have a shoulder to stop you over tightening them and cracking the plastic.

All the best

It'll be off in the morning, just this minute got home from Wales.

Having cooling problems with the bike. Tomorrow I have to replace two coolant hoses and the thermostat housing which has rather delayed my usual Sunday trip home. Sorry about that.

No problem, it should come in handy for repairing other cracks in the fairing, just to be sure though....

I have done a mock up of the left hand lug as it should be, does it make sense thats how it should look and is it really possible to do this with plastech? Thinking

In theory yes it is possible if you Make up some kind of tray/mould arrangement to form the new part.

I must admit if it was mine I would cut up a piece of old fairing and Plastech it on as it would be easier to do.
