Second puncture in less then 2weeks!

This time, I wasn't lucky. last time i was half a mile away from home. But this time I was just under 20miles away.
I've not got break down cover yet.
So I've no idea where abouts there would be a tire shop. I go into a key cutting shop, ask if they know anywhere. They give me directions (back up the hill from where I was). So i take those, along the way asking random people to make sure that there is one. I spot a house that has 2 motorbikes in front, knock on there door to ask if they know. They don't have a clue. So I say thank you and carry on my way . After 15minutes I get fed up of pushing, so decide to put it into 1st and use the throttle to move it forward, and just keep it balanced. I come across a tyre shop, but they only do car tyres so they can't help me. They tell me of a bike shop half a mile up the road, estimating it would take me about 15minutes to reach there. Along the route I ask some old man to make sure I'm going to right way.
Along the route, I pass a kitchen fitting showroom and notice a GSXR there, I ask who's the owner, to see if he knows of any places. They let me borrow there yellow pages. and I look on the map. The bike shop is well over 1 mile up the road. So I call them up.
£55 to pick up the bike, take to the workshop, put in a new inner, and be on my way.
So I do it.
Out of curiosity I call AA aswell. They quote me around £120 (would have been around £49 if I joined normally). They tell me as its a tubed tyre, they wont be able to fix it at the road side, so would drop the bike at a garage within 10miles (no use there, home is 19miles away).

So anyway. Now, I need bike breakdown cover.
And any emergency puncture kits for a Tubed tyre
And anything else I can get a hold of, like SlimeLine which you use for mountain bikes etc.. Any kind of tire protection I can use etc..

How does that Tubed one work? As its a murder to remove the inner tube, then put it back in again.

autoaid. £36 a year, when you have to claim you pay and claim it back.

Just googled it and read the first few posts on MSE site...
so you basically pay the annual fee to autoaid.. and you pay the local towing/repairs place. and you claim with autoaid to get the money back?
interesting.. But i wonder.. how many claims could you make, and how long does it take for them to pay you back

Damn tutton. I'm with MCE and I think I payed the extra to be covered for breakdowns and gear etc...
Can't believe I forgot about that. doh. How many breakdown claims are u usually allowed to make though?

Is there no limit to how far from home you can be? As with AA they said nearest garage within 10miles. But my commute has me 20miles/1hour away from home

I gave MCE a call. I've got the breakdown cover (aswell as cover for gear etc..).
They say I only have 'local' cover. Where they will come fix the repair within 1 hour. If not, take me to the nearest garage. If I am within 1mile from home they'll take me home? (1mile seems rather pointless, I could just push that).
Kinda confused.
for extra I could get National+home, where they come out anywhere, and can take you home.
and Home, where they can come to your home to see the bike.

Id phone up again and check through your paperwork,
i didnt buy any specific option for breakdown cover it came with the policy and they come pick me up 20 miles away etc and they try fix at roadside if they can, if not ask whehter you want garage or what, so i say home. hasnt failed yet...

Gave them another call.
It covers me if I am within 1 - 15miles from home.
Bugger. As my commute is 20.5miles away.
I did ask them,how much to upgrade. £27.50 to upgrade to national cover (they'll come out anywhere in the UK).
Seems reasonable? I might just upgrade to that.
And they said for european cover, its around an additional £40.
