80Gb Ipod, handy as a portable harddrive too. I only have music on mine, but the wife has a few movies and shows on hers that she watches whilst travelling. I do tend to use my K800i as my MP3 player more often though, as it's always with me.

W580i with 8 gb memory stick through headphones or speakers 'cause I never go anywhere without my phone and it plays more formats than my old Sony mp3 player.

I used to hate the over-priced ipod and avoided buying one for ages... but to be honest... I haven't found a single MP3 player that works as well or as easily as the ipod whilst looking as good and being as light etc...

I had the 3rd gen ipod nano (the square one?) and loved it until I accidentally ran over it in my van Evil or Very Mad only had it for a month or so too! I've now bought the latest ipod nano the rectangle one with the accelerometa thing... I like it a lot, looks cool in blue and works very well apart from the fact every song I try to turn "genuis" on says its not compatible??? WTF but other than that I don't think you can beat an ipod really.

You can get cheaper MP3 players, but the Ipod is worth the money IMO.

My friend Yvette has a cute little ipod but it has no screen so it just plays her music at random, I could not live with that ( the pod that is not Yvette).

Yeah, slightly due to the fact that the 'iPod' is a product of 'Apple'! Laughing

IMO no... technically yes.. but no.

It's like Hoover.. its a brand name but generically called for all vacuum devices if that makes sense.

In the same sorta way, Ipod has become a brand and not just an "mp3 player"

so althought it IS an MP3 player I can see the sense in saying "do you have an ipod or mp3 player"

if that makes sense Laughing

No.
Pods play music in an odd Apple format, itunes converts MP3s and other sound files to the Apple file type.

Everything on my Ipod is an MP3. I don't use iTunes <spit>, I prefer Sharepod.

Thank god for sony ericsson phones. All the practicalities of a music player, camera phone and a music player. Get some good quality headphones... i'm running sennheisers at the moment and the sound quality is perfect. 8gb card in my somewhat dated K800i is still doing well. Want to see if i can flash it to accomodate 16gb. Don't like ipods personally... one more thing to carry about in your pocket and one more thing to lose.

I've got an iRiver T30 (had it 3 years) and I've just bought the wife an iRiver CLIX-2 for her birthday, especially so we can be Open Source geeks and play Ogg Vorbis file formats. Cool

I have 3 Matsui 2GB MP3 players from Currys. All with about 400 songs on, all mostly different. £20 each, 10 hours out of a duracell. Not going to cry if it breaks / gets lost. All on MP3 format, would not consider anything else. DRA my ass. Use Sony phones on them, very happy bunny.

I would not own an I-Pod but that is just me. My experience of taking against a brand is that I am just being petty but the whole I tunes thing gets me. Don't Don't Don't believe the hype.

I have a MobiBlu DAH-220; It has no screen and only has 1gb of internal memory. It does have an MMC slot however, and its main prime best advantage is that it is in the shape of a cassette tape and so will play in my car stereo (CD and tape) without faffing about with wires or cables. It comes with two batteries which recharge in about half an hour but last about 6hrs each.

Here's a review for the 256mb version of yesteryear:
