Continued from here.

Seems like things are changing and a new vote might be in order.

I'll let this one run until the new year (then we might have a part three in the Spring).

On a personal note:

1) My job is, touch wood, reasonably secure.
2) My self-employed business is definately seeing a downturn at the minute but will hopefully recover in the new year.
3) My house has been on the market for over a year and I've lost £25k in cold hard cash and another £60k on paper so far!

1:Job is secure unless i get booted out of uni ( Student Nurse)

2. Finances are quite dire this month, £578 overdrawn at the bank, i owe my mum £1,300, can hardly afford christmas.

3. Bank refuses to give me £100 extra on my overdraft, yet are happy to charge me £38 sodding quid every time Orange fucking mobile try to get their direct debit, even tho they have been told on numerous occasions i will pay them on the 19th.

So on a final note, this month is bollocks financially and Royal Bank of Scotland are a set of robbing mugs. As for Orange mobile, well set of cocks also. Im also sure Orange mobile make peoples fucking bills up as they go along.

I wish I only had your overdraft.

Maybe a sperate "How much debt are you in" thread is in order!

0-500
500-1000
1000-2000
2000-5000
5000-10000
10000-25000
25000-100000
100000+

(only put the last one in to make me feel better - there's always someone worse off than yourself).

My debts are only £4,516 so not major but still, on a £560 a month NHS bursary, it is not something you want. Sad

1) My job is currently secure, just taken on 3 more staff and still have too much to do.
2) Got 20K in savings against a tracker offset mortgage reducing it by nearly 10 years so far and which has currently gone down £70 a month.
3) My house is still worth more than I paid for it though I doubt it'd sell even if I wanted to!

I'm feeling lucky to be in the situation I'm in at the moment but strangely insecure about the future too. Partly due to my missus spending the next 6 months on hugely reduced maternity pay, but we decided it's worth it for what she'll get out of it being with our little 'un all day every day. Thumbs Up

When I finally do find another job, I may sell the CB500 and get a CG125/C90/mopedscooterthang for commuting, depending on how far and what type of roads it'll be. Saying that, the CB is quite economical to run anyway, so I'll have to weigh up the total savings in servicing, tax & insurance etc.

As Icey posted in the old thread, I was made redundant a couple of weeks ago but managed to find another job the following week, so it didn't cause to much of a squeeze. (For those looking for jobs, it seems the South West has quite a few to offer those in the IT field, give it another week and I would probably have had three offers on the table and I'm not very special).

The job I'm going into has some very stable long term projects on the go, so I'd like to think it will be a bit more stable than my last (US based manufacturing company). This is one of the reasons for taking the job over anything else. Gone are the days when increasing your pay packet was the only reason to change employer!

I'm in £14,000 of student debt, increasing at a rate of £55 per month in interest alone.

Other than that nothing has changed, apart from the fact finding a job after graduation maybe more difficult.

well....

Ive just got my dream job.

Ive got money in the bank and saving a regular amount each month without any loss of lifestyle.

I have no debts.

I have the perfect car for my needs .

I have a superbike that i wouldnt change for any of the bikes currently on offer.

Mortgage & house prices are dropping just as im starting to look at my options regarding purchasing one.

At the moment im pretty damn happy - although not counting chickens just yet as everything can change in an instant. Thumbs Up Mr. Green

I live pretty economically, suppose some would call it tight, but i pay for what i want and dont like the flash clothes, shoes, latest gizmos etc. cant say ive noticed any change actually.

Im very lucky in that Im securely employed and didnt get a mortgage when I was planning last year.

Ive used the 'credit crunch' as a prompt to review my outgoing spends on what was neccessary, what would be considered as entertainment and what was just plain wasteful. Im currently saving on average a thousand pounds a month by cutting out beers every night, buying dinners at work, going out every friday and saturday etc etc.

So my position is quite good (apart from this mornings car fiasco, bloody things cost me 300 quid in the last couple of weeks) ive got over 7.5k savings, I'll be getting 2100 in bonuses on monday plus my monthly wage and hopefully after christmas I will be making an extra 4.5k a year. Debt is also at an all time low, just a few interest free debts on my credit card and a loan Ive been paying off. On top of all that ive got nearly all the effin christmas presents for everybody so no worries there, meaning I can cut loose with my xmas pay. Thumbs Up

I'm just about scraping enough labouring work together to count as employed.

I started too late to notice really but apparently it's a hell of alot harder to get labouring work than before.

me and the wife are feeling it, downsized our house and cars, sold bike etc cutting back, we both have well paid jobs, but times are lean, the good thing is that these recession/boom times go in cycles. so hopefully shouldn't be to long until things pick up.

fingers crossed.

Economics say there is a cycle... and we think, well, it will pick up again. The future is unwritten, we could be on the edge of a very, very, very long way down with only years of ill-health, crime, violence, starvation and hoplessness to look forward to.

Happy Christmas!

What like Japan that has been in deflation since 1990 and has never since recovered?

I've been feeling the pinch a bit lately but that's mainly been due to my hours being cut a little in work between the downtown between the summer and winter high seasons coupled with things like bike tax beng due and needing to service my bike aswell. I work on an artificial ski slope so it's starting to pick up again now with more and more people coming up for lessons before they go away on skiing holidays and also we've had a new catering manager who's been great and has given me more hours so I'm beginning to drag myself out of the downward spiral I was in a few months ago. I just need to survive xmas and then start saving for my bike insurance which is due in April and then I should be reet Thumbs Up

Total Debt:

£3k Bike on finance
£1k Overdraft (not a student one!)
£800 on a credit card
And I owe my parents £40

At least your student loan has dropped by 0.8%

Same as above. Student loan (£8k?) gets cheaper , but get less for savings, but house prices dropping so looking pretty good for me.
