CD250s are very cool bikes, I love mine.

Not keen on that fairing but otherwise it looks very tidy. Mine is a total heap!

Loving the bike mate, they are a great bike! the fairing is great for keeping wind at bay and its really old so compared to modern stuff seems weird. Keep up on the maintainance an it will last you years!

When I got the bike I was going to take the fairing off but when I took it out for its first rides I was amazed how no one pulled out in front of me thinking I may be a cop so hey! its staying on, plus like XlonewolfX says " its great for keeping the wind at bay" and the rain, Love retro bikes and Ive had a few crackers, this one is also a cracking retro, cheers and lets enjoy the weather

thanks, but unfortunately i had a little slide on saturday night in the ice. the only thing hitting the ground was the handlebar end and gear change lever, bodywork is still 100% mint lol.

getting new gear lever soon though and then will be exactly same as picture above (plus some handlebar muffs as its f$*@king freezing!!)

to get the image to come straight up put [ IMG ] www.linktopicture.com [ /IMG ] without the spaces between IMG and the brackets Smile

i love my CD250!

Not much, 80+ tops at a push, aint good on motorways you are better riding 60/70mph cause its feels as though its being screwed otherwise, its a beaut little motorcycle and I love it though Ive loved all my bikes, good thing about this is its light for taking short cuts off the main roads so long as you take it easy you dont get in to bother ( well at least I havent yet ) also the mpg is brilliant, if you do drop it its easy to pick up and most of all its a retro motorcycle with a retro fairing, I am licenced for any size motorcycle but choose this CD250U and I wont sell it though I am looking at a 1977 goldwing 1000 which will be good on longer rides Im still gonna keep my CD250U, enjoy your and keep it shiny side up, good luck

Laughing

yeah it is a cool bike, my first big geared bike so it feels very fast to me!

PostPosted: 15:20 - 14 Jun 2009    Post subject: Honda CD250U - Advice for Cafe Racer Project Reply with quote

Hi,

This is my first post, I'm new to this forum. Pretty cool that this is one of the first forums I came across that has a couple of Honda CD250 owners.

I'm deciding if I should buy a 1990 Honda CD250U. The CD I'm looking at has done 1,500 kms with the owner claiming the engine's been rebuilt.

I want to make a cafe racer project out of it. I'm really inspired from Deus Ex Machina in Sydney and Heiwa (link below) in Japan.

It's a 6 hour drive for me to buy this bike, but it is really really cheap. I would really appreciate if you guys could give me some advice and tell me if there are any mechanical issues I should look out for?

Thanks a lot!

All you did was put spaces between the characters like this - [ img ]. You don't need to do that.

An easier way is to click the Img button just below the 'subject' box when replying to a post, it will put in the 1st part of the code for you, then just paste in your web address and then press the Img button again (it will appear as Img*) and it will put the [/img] for you.[/img]
