right... ive got my bike test booked up for the 15th, and have been practicing absolutely everything for about a month now on my new dr125sm, no problems what so ever, great position, never locked up on an emergency stop, perfect u-turns etc, it has all been going fantastic... until last week when i left work, and a woman decided 2 pull out of a car park space on me and knock me off. i have now been sorted out with a courtesy bike ... a yamaha ybr 125. I CANT RIDE IT FOR S**T . the riding position is awful, i cant do u turns, no emergancy stop because the drum brake locks up the wheel, and i cant stay in a straight line whilst goin slow and i feel extremely uncomfortable riding it... i am now dreading my test as i now feel like im going to fail miserably.
any advice fellow riders?

bluff the rear brake
put your foot over it and press down a tiny bit
so do all the braking with the front
My CG was a swine for locking the rear as it was so thin
Girl i did my DAS with was on a YBR125, and he told her to not use the back brake, just make it look like you are as it kept locking, nd that was in good sunny weather on a dry road ____________________ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No need to bluff it, you've got 10 days to get used to it. You should be able to do that in an afternoon, so you've plenty of time if you don't waste it. The principles are all the same, you just have to find the balancing point, clutch biting point, and get a feel for the brakes and throttle. If the rear brake locks if you fart near it, adjust it.
If you have the mental attitude of "I can't do it, I'm going to fail miserably", then you will. ____________________ Chances are quite high you are not in my Monkeysphere, and I don't care about you. Don't take it personally.

A good way to learn to do all of the above is to relax....
If you relax and almost slouch while riding slow you don't over correct... and thus can ride real slow...
If you relax on a U turn , you are less likely to grab the front or hit the back... ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. You'll get used to it soon enough. Everytime I ride a new bike I hate it, I think i'll never get used to it and I wish I still had my previous bike. That usually lasts a few days, then I can't imagine going back.
It takes a bit longer when you move to a bike that isn't as good as your own. I still managed to enjoy using the piaggio x9 250cc (half tank/half scooter) that I got as a hire bike after being in a crash on my honda xr125. I never got used to the shame of riding it though |

Riding a new bike is always an issue of time, you will get used to it, but what more likely causing your issues is coming off. Your probably not comfortable after that and a new bike is not helping you. Get yourself off to a quiet road and pratice those u-turns until you get your confidence back and it will move from there. ____________________ Current - 2007 Suzuki Bandit GSF1250 - 1999 Suzuki TL1000R
