the scene:

traffic going aboutt 30 in a 50 at rush hour on a relatively straight road, single lane traffic with 2 lanes, one oncoming.

im filtering through at a spirited rate, and theres a car oncoming as i go, that starts flashing its lights and waving hands in a ''slow down'' way... 2 policemen, silver car... unmarked police car?

anyway,
get around the slight corner in this road to find speed camera twats shooting traffic ''shit'' thinks i as i dive back in the traffic.

so yeah... they cant be all that bad Thumbs Up

If they flashed their headlights it could just be a normal person helping you out Wink

That's really good of them. They must have been drunk.

That's a good thing for them to do. Been close to getting banned by unmarked cars in the past though. Went to catch up with a bike for a bit of a race a few weeks back and as I got closer to the car I was about to overtake the lights came on for the person in front lol. Also was going to filter behind a quad to have a bit of a race but something felt wrong so I didn't. Followed and the lights came on for the quad and he sped off lol.

If I recall correctly, flashing oncoming cars to warn them of a speed trap or mobile camera can land you with a fine.

It is very unlikely that it was a traffic copper. If it were, they may have been warning you to slow down or they'll turn round and pull you for doing a 'spirited' pace in slow moving traffic.

that really confused me the first time it happened, i wondered if my door was open or something (car obviously)... then got 3 points by the coppers hiding under a bridge on a 30mph dual carriageway where people usually do 60, and i was doing 42.

i learnt what to do the second time i was randomly flashed by a few cars and it saved me a few quid Wink

I once flashed a black BMW that was going about 40 in a 30 zone, and I'd just passed a speed camera. I only noticed it was an un-marked cop car when he flashed the blue lights and waved to say thank you Shocked

Why? It's perverting the course of justice or similar but everyone still does it.

Agreed I was caning it through the twisties on the way to the coast near me and cars kept flashing me. I actually pulled over to double check everything seemed fine on the bike.

Eventually the next town I got caught by the laser gun and a bunch of police (looked liked newbie training) for doing 34 in a 30 zone.

Just a warning but still.... I remembered ever since then... flashing lights? slow down.
