Quote:
A COUPLE are £500 out of pocket after buying a laptop case which was actually full of bottles of pop.

The man and woman were out shopping when they were approached outside the Tesco supermarket at Clifton Moor Retail Park and asked if they wanted to buy a laptop computer.

Neutral Confused Laughing Laughing Laughing

Cheered me up no end, especially some of the comments:

'They got pop! Normally it's bricks or bottles refilled with tap water'

'they should have bought a desk top, they may have got a crate of beer for the tower, a box of corn flakes for the screen and a ginsters sausage roll for a mouse'

Thumbs Up Laughing

when they got home and opened the laptop bag they found it actually contained three two-litre bottles of fizzy drinks.

If a litre of water is 1kg, that makes it 6kg's in weight. That's a bloody heavy laptop! Not even my widescreen weighs that!

But yeah, why would you buy a laptop from some random guy in the street?!

Greed and avarice.

I'm pretty sure the very guy that was featured on Watchdog tried to flog me a camcorder on the beach last summer. He seemed very pleasant and honest though, which was why I gave him the benefit of the doubt and pointed-out the similarity between his behaviour and the known scam. It didn't faze him but he left empty-handed.

Those who perpetrate these scams though deserve to be shot through the back of the neck, they are gutless scum who target their own because they don't have the brains or balls to go after legitimate targets.

In a busy street probably works with an unbeknown to them mate. Bait and switch. The bag they watched the demo laptop go in is not the bag he handed them over for the money. Works well with a fast patter, played like an NLP master.

Caveat empor

They thing is I'm abit ambivalent about this.

I'd like to thank that, had I been there, I'd of stuck my oar in to persuade them not to buy magic beans.

Yet at the same time... what kind of a fucking retard pays half a grand for a computer to a guy on the street at any rate. These are the kind of morons that are only worth having around so the rest of us can feel smugly superior by comparison.

I mean, there are hundreds of scams knocking around. Including just as many legal and licenced ones (Which of these is an animal? a) Book B) Table C) Elephant... Call now to win a bicycle - £1.50 a minute). At one point will people take some responsibility for their own gullible nature.
I had one I've mentioned in another thread. To me is seemed so painfully obvious that it wasn't a threat. Yet that level of sophistication must make it worth while. At £25 a pop. So there are plenty of people throwing money there way.

If no one fell for these things, then it wouldn't be worth doing, and people wouldn't do it. Pff... niche disappears, no more scam crimes.

I mean jesus, who the fuck falls for a 419 these days? Someone must.
