ok so i was out today in the great weather putting some miles on the clock, all was well.

However, coming back home my bike just cut out for no reason (that i can think of). It wouldn't start again unless i left the choke on to start it then turn the choke straight back off again. It wasn't a lack of petroleum as i just filled the bike up about 25 miles beforehand.

Anyway i got it going again with no problems for the last 5miles home. The only thing i can think of is maybe a block in the fuel filter or summit, or a dirty carb.. any ideas folks?

I just don't want it happening again especially whilst overtaking or something like that. a bit dangerous!

Hi

Probably a blocked breather hose to the fuel tank. This way as fuel is used air cannot get in to replace it in the tank so a vacuum forms, which stops the fuel leaving the tank. Next time it does it open the fuel tank then try and start it again. If this is the problem you will probably hear a rush of air into the tank as you open it, then the bike will run fine for another few miles.

Other possiblity is the fuel filter.

All the best

Keith

think you've hit the nail on the head kickstart. I opened the tank cap to have a look for petrol (in case i had a leak and didn't notice).. this was after the second time it cut-out. After that though it seemed to run fine for the rest of the journey!

I'll check that out tomorrow!

cheers.
