Anybody here done the A1 or know anyone who has done the A1? Im still waiting to find someone who actually didn't do A2 or DAS.

Also anyone who has sat a moped test?

The only people that the A1 test is really for is old man C90 riders to ditch the L's, who will never want or need anything bigger.

It's the same actual test as the A2, so little point in anyone else doing it.

At least take the test on a 125cc scooter then you can ride bigger ones, but still limited to automatic machines. As said, A1 is pretty pointless unless you can't physically ride anything other than a small machine for some reason. Exact same test as the A2/DAS, only the machine you take it on is different.

I've done the A1 test on my 100cc scooter and passed first time. That's all I need as I can only handle bikes up to 110 kg. Choices are limited when you're less than 5 ft and weigh around 45kg.

The test itself shouldn't be any different from the A2 test but I guess it's a lot easier on an automatic. U turns are definately not an issue. Smile

Gain some confidence. no reason you couldn't feel safe and be safe on a bigger geared bike other than confidence.

Its about technique , in that I'm 5'6ish and ride an Africa twin , which has a 890mm seat height and I have very short legs ....

You're 5'6ish. I'm under 5 ft. Bet you don't have size 2 n half feet. Someone on this forum had asked whether I was a hobbit. Laughing

Major problem is trying to park the scooter back first into the garage with husband's car still on the drive.

The lady doth protest too much Wink

Thing is no one is thinking badly about you here we are just pointing out you can ride whatever you want, your size is not a barrier to it.

Maybe the lady is more comfortable on a small scooter. If she is, fatastic.

But I do think a lot of it is to do with technique.

Like, when I first got my ped, I thought it was as heavy as fuck and struggled to get it on the stand. Now I can kinda put it on in one swift movement, blindfolded, with one hand.

I haven't got any stronger. The bike no lighter. I've just got the technique down.

Same thing with my 125. I couldn't lift it off the ground if I tried, yet when you see hoe easily I whip it on/off the stand, you'd think it was as light as anything.

It's not about strenght. It's about tecnique. The most muscle bound moron would struggle to get a 125 on the stand with the wrong technique, and vice versa.

I'm not being dismissive. But I don't think your weight has any bearing on things. Most car drivers weigh less than their cars (not all though).
As for being "too short" (in your own opinion, not mine) then adjustmets can be made: lower the seat, etc.

have you tried any bikes over 110kg?

should be able to manage a big bike; one with low centre of gravity, then lower the suspension, then lower the seat and get some of those thick soled bike boots that add 3 or 4 cm to your height

there is no reason for anyone to be limited to a 100cc ped Razz

I agree with this! most people on their CBT really struggle to get the bike on the stand first time but after 6 months of riding i basically jump on it and it's done.

Give a bigger bike a go. if you don't like it then that's fine but you could see if you wanna move up or not.

to sickpup, i wasn't being offensive. just making a joke. lighten up Thumbs Up
