So I've been on here for something like 2 years, with a full bike licence....but no bike.

That changed this evening, I finally bought one Very Happy

It's nothing special as it will be used to commute. Its a 2004 Bandit.

Been looking for something simlar (Hornet, CBF, Fazer etc..) for the last few weeks and there has been nothing at the right price and in the right condition. Saw this one listed on eBay and went to have a look. It was right at the top of my budget but everything checked out, very low milage, perfect service history etc.. and a test ride showed no issues (nothing that I could tell anyway).

Anyway, pictures:

The ride home was quite good, if a little cold. I was amazed how good the headlight is!

Better than a mini eh Razz

Those downpipes won't be gleaming for long, my commuter is already hanging out of its arse and we're only in December.

Very envious of the Bandit headlight - SV is impossible in the dark, as the headlight is on frame, not steering, so I have to turn first, see later Shocked

Looks great! Thumbs Up

I wouldn't say bullet proof. Take care of it, and it'll last ages. Don't forget these are budget bikes. Make sure you keep it clean. The salt all over the roads will destroy it in no time. The second you see a bit of rust, treat it, and seal it or it will get worse, fast.

Easier to coat the thing in ACF-50 (apart from the brakes of course) for the duration of the winter... wash it off in the spring and voila. Thumbs Up

In fact as it's going to be used as a commuter I would suggest that treating it with ACF is absolutely vital.

Sooner or later opinions fade and the name on the tank matters not. I think that happens somewhere between 3rd and 4th gear. Enjoy the ride... everything else takes care of itself.

You won't go wrong with the bandit, I've had a couple of 6's and a 12. Good all round bike, good commuter and quick enough for a bit of grin on the weekends. As said before the engines are bullet proof and there's loads of spares and trick bits available for them. Enjoy the bike.

That Bandit is in excellent condition. I bet it's looking filthy after your ride home though!

I agree with the ACF-50 advice. Get it whacked on all over the metal and plastic. It's awesome stuff.

Our main car is an old Mini, so we know the havoc rust can cause! Laughing

ACF-50 is already on the shopping list, been using it on other things for a couple of years now, good stuff! Smile

Price was a fairly resonable £1995. Not a bargain, but I reckon it was a good price for a good bike Smile
