helllo, im new to all this, so i hope im doing it right,

now about bikes, i have got my self a cpi sx 50 on an 08 plate its a fairly nippy bike for a 50 thats standard, the only thing i have mucked about with is the sprockets as the ones that the standard derestriction kit gives you means it wont pull 5th and 6th on the flat but it will pull 75mph+ down hill, so now i have it changed so it will pull 50-55 on the flat and scream 70 down a big hill,

so my question, does anybody know much about them?

am6, i believe?

i spoke to some chap who wreckons that with a 19mm carb and a performance exhast ect, it will rev to 18k (with the right oil) and kick out 17-18 bhp?

so what do you all think ? cheers !

yeah thats what i thought, then you read into the cpi racing bike and they are dynoed at 22 bhp, remember its all bhp and no torque with a 50....

it would do 75 everyday 77 on the cold ones.......

^^^^

ignore that , im bored at school so did a bit of research into it and its all explained here https://www.epi-eng.com/piston_engine_technology/power_and_torque.htm

torque = bhp x 5252 divided by rpm

but it is still more the gearing and the gearing affects rpm Wink

Power= 2pi x RPS x torque

If your talking in proper terms then torque is measured at the flywheel and is defined as the turning force of the crankshaft.....

anybody know what good, tuning wise then?
( i know its a shite 50cc and its only going to go so fast, but i want to use it to its maximum and hopefully not be so late for collage everyday Wink

Pleb, so your going to rag the tits out of your bike and likely to blow it up pretty fast redlining it from new pretty much, than leave a few minutes earlier?

tit, i would hardly count running at 8-9k as ragging the bike after a 5-7 min warm up in the morning and all this after running it in for 2k pritty sure it doesnt mind to much Smile

Well remind me to never buy your bike.

The fact you are even trying for 75mph from a 50cc suggests you are trying to hard. It won't do it any good and it'll never reach a true 70mph+.

The best upgrade for a 50cc, is a 125. Best bit of advice I ever read on 50cc 'tuning' forums.

oh, im not trying to make it do any redicluess speeds i was only wondering if anybody knew the best way to tune it and if anybody had any previous experience,

world record for a 50 is 144 mph

i have been beside my friends 50 cc bike derbi gpr doing 80 i was in an audi a4 its not impossable.

haha 144mph was in a fibre glass bullet shaped thing basically with ridiculously high gearing on some salt flats

not even worth mentioning that if your comparing it to a road going bike

haha i know, it had a turbo too Laughing and probably a rebuild after each run

all i was saying is that some 50s can be tuned to fairly fast and not just blow up

Fairly fast compared to a push bike but compared to a motorbike they will never be fast.

"yeah thats all great advice but not when your only just 16"
hi,
i dont get the relevance of age?
if your riding a bike that might be capable of 75mph, on a provisional licence, then your breaking the law. & invalidating your insurance
("cat P :Mopeds with an engine capacity not exceeding 50cc and a maximum design speed not exceeding 50km/h"
so your as well breaking the law properly, & getting a 125, rather than trying to reach ridiculous speeds on a fiddy. (only kidding, please dont get a 125) lol
or try sticking bbk on it?
cheers,
GAZ

If it's geared for 75mph at the redline in 6th, it will do it down a big hill, but the engine alone on the flat just can't pull them sorts of speeds.

So you trade decent on the flat speed for extreme downhill speed.

I'm pretty sure he could do them speeds downhill with the right gearing so he doesn't hit the rev limiter before 75mph.

Gravity is a strong force so down a massive hill, it's possible
