WD40 on moving parts...

Due to all the muck on the roads at the moment I've been finding my handlebar controls getting stiffer and not working so well, currently the starter button when depressed doesn't immediately fire into action, takes a second or 2. I'm thinking of squirting a whole load of WD40 into these parts to free them up - anything wrong with this? Won't short anything out or kill anything will it? Question

I sprayed loads of WD40 on the back of my RX-S headlight and it made the indicator warning lights stay on solid but the indicators wouldn't work off the switch Laughing

It was fine once the WD40 had dried a bit.

Silicone spray grease is better for electrics Thumbs Up

but WD40 should be fine.

My indicator switch gets abit sticky now the weathers cold (either that or my hands are getting more numb). would it be a bad idea to spray around in there?

You don't need loads. Just spray a bit in and it will be fine.

Yeah WD40's fine to use on electrics as long as you don't go too mad. Thumbs Up

spray it when you get home and dont plan to sue the bike till the next day - atleast that way if you do apply too much then it wont affect you - so dont go covering everything then try riding to work !

^ usually thats what I do. I've got FS365, and GT85. I usually spray all over the place when the bikes a tiny bit warm, so it sets quicker. and sometimes i'll spray GT85.. leave it. then an hour or so before i go to bed I put the cover on (don't bother if i know it wont rain at night)
