Any motorbike instructors on BCF?

If so do you think it's worth being one? Does it stop the bike being fun? Would you recommend it as a career or not?

I'm not instructor but my instructor is also a friend. And he sitll does regular track days and sitll has fun. But I say he's boring because he doesn't like wheelis (jt to wind him up). We have a laugh, I had a laugh with him when learning and although he gets stressed sometimes with the amount of work he loves it. Much like I love my job. I have seriouly considered it because of him really. Although I am too young!

I think it'd be fun, meeting new people along the way, potential new friends, and passing your knowledge and helping other people get to grips with riding. Much like how people here give advice to other riders.

I like the idea of passing on my knowledge (even though I have very little compared to most) but every little helps

I'm mates with the owners of a training school and one of the instructors is my housemate.

Basically, don't go in it for the money or flexible hours

He worked like a dog all summer, 7 days, evenings, teaching pedbois not to kill themselves and middle aged women how to pick an ER5 up off the kerb.

Now it's winter, he's lucky to get a couple of CBT's and test a week.

Luckily for him his bosses actually pay him despite the workload, most places don't and you can turn up in winter just to be told 'nah, nowt today' and no wage that day. Plus it's usually minimum wage anyway unless you train for DAS which costs a packet.

He did get to ride is own bike on a few occasions in the summer, now he's put it to bed as spending your working days riding in freezing pissing rain and gales means you're less inclined to bother in your free time!!

He does meet some interesting people, gets to ride a bike for a job, satisfaction when good students pass their test, but all in all not a job I'd choose.

For some odd reason my instructor is always fully booked. And he's got someone udner him doing CB's now and again. He does DAS as well so that's probably why but he sitll gets quite busy during winter... I guess it epends place to place.

Two things spring to mind from what I know about the job. Firstly, you are never going to get rich from being a bike instructor, its not an incredibly well paid job. Secondly, they always say that the best way to ruin a hobby is to do it as a full time job. I think that there is a lot of truth in that statement.

My other half is an instructor. Done it for 11 years now.. He's a nutter- rides like a complete looney, pulls wheelies and stoppies wherever he can (obviously not in front of students).

I get the impression that he loves his job. Loves it more when theres sunshine, not so much in poop weather.... But he says what's better than being paid to ride a motorbike round? He gets a buzz from being so active during the day and interacting with others, plus getting along well with your colleagues and boss (as they do at his workplace) makes a huge difference. As said above, it's not the best paid or most regular job but then again, his expenditure ain't exactly high, and he has everything he wants and a roof over his head so he has no complaints. Although, this time of year it's pretty quiet as not many people want to learn in this poopy weather... you can always find a temporary part time job if needed..

If we ever have a nice dry day we always try to get a ride out on our bikes, i haven't seen a negative effect on his own personal view of riding bikes due to his job... not one bit.

It's a job I would love- if the pay was there.... which probably explains why I get paid silly money for sitting on my backside all day staring at the monitor trying to look occupied in a dull office environment...

I can get £2,500 which will get you trained for the lot. Would need to make a few hundred a week, everyweek to be at the same income I'm used to.

im fully booked until mid march already i dont have a slow period get your self trained up and open for your self its the only way to go
