Hi

Anyone interested?

https://www.alfa-pages.co.uk/TempPicture/seighford.jpg

You can just about see how long it is here. Basically it is about 1/4 of a mile long. Some friends with a fast car went there and could not quite get to 100mph before hitting the brakes (hard), and that is with a car that managed 0-60 in 4.3 seconds (they have access to professional timing equipment).

All the best

why?

oooh surface don't look very good Shocked

go to any RWYB and you get a 1/4 with timing lights, 1/4 mile run off, marshalls, paramedics etc. and all for £40

or go to Elvington (as you know) and run flat out for 2 miles Cool for the same money

If we did that there is a good chance I could borrow they tyre machine from work if we can get hold of a generator and a compressor.

Hhmmmm, hhhh.

Me, me.
/me waves hands in the air.

I've got a compressor Smile.... does the tyre machine need three phase power though.
I don't know if they'd really want people doing burnouts anyway, if they're hiring it out for other testing.
As it's only a 1/4 mile it should be fairly cheap hopefully.

I have a compressor as well. The airfield is about 2 miles from where I live.

All the best

That could indeed be good fun Smile
I'd call them now but it's raining here so i've got no signal on my mobile Sad
Can someone find out the price and post it up?

We could always have our own mini BCF BDB there if they allow overnight camping Smile

Hi
Yeah a making a weekend of it would be cool. If we've got generators then we could have music blasting, BBQ's bbq'ing and people getting drunk, would be sweet.

We could also do our own mini drag racing tournament. All you need is a start and finish, and 2 people. The one to say go and another one to say who wins. Could make a knockout tournament of it.

As the airfield's only 1/4 mile long, it would be a very mini tournament. Laughing

So has anyone actually got a price yet?

Hi
Yeah but the good thing about it is if the runs only 1/8th of a mile long it wont matter as much what bike your on it will be down to clutch control. Also the terminal speed would be less so you wont have to break as quickly.

Eh?

Bikes have red lines for a reason... to see how long you can keep that liddle' needle in them... that's how you play the game aint it? Razz

You shouldn't need to use too much clutch or rev it to much thanks to the nature of your engine. As it's a not highley tuned twin it should be fairly torquey from low down and will run out of power, so no need to bury yourself in the red line.

The power up there's lovely, you should try it!

I'm back working myself now too but I'll see if I can call them at some point.

I've just remembered (lucky they're still open!)
Apparently it depends on the use but for "commercial use" it would cost £100/200 for half/full day.
She was unsure of the one-off use costs as the lady that deals with it has gone home already but she'll call or email me tomorrow with more details.
Aapparentlycommercial use would be companies using it to train drivers or film programs there but again she was unsure of the full details.
I'll let you know tomorrow after they contact me.
