Righttt...

Well i went outside to fit mirrors to the GPX and noticed a potential MOT failure. The throttle is sticking. there isnt any excessive play and it doesnt feel asif the cable is fouling up as its still nice and smooth and the carbs move in time with the throttle.

So where is my problem likely to lie, on the carbs (Which i think is unlikely) or on the throttle assembly itself?

I reckon if i grease up all the moving parts of the throttle assembly, and oil the cable while im on it should solve the problem as the grip isnt causing the sticking.

Would you lot say this was correct? Just want a second opinion as i dont want to do any work that isnt required Razz

Cheers Thumbs Up

Easiest thing is to check that the rubber isn't rubbing on the switch gear.

Otherwise, could be the spring(s) on the carbs Thumbs Up

i thought it could be the rubber so i removed the grip completely, still fouling. Hope it's not the springs ¬__¬

I seem to remember having a similar problem with my FX.
Think what I did was remove the return cable at the carb end and put a couple of clips with a spring on that.

I just had the throttle assembly appart, ive never had a system of which uses two cables in the throttle but i soon worked it out.

Although im not entirely sure what the problem was as i havent greased it or anything, simply reassembled until theres some decent light.

It seems ok at the moment, it doesnt snap back as i'd like it too but rolls back quite nicely. I imagine i could have had the cable adjusted too toightly or something.

mine sits at about 1100-1300 but it will idle at 800 (barely), i prefer it to sit about 1300 to help prevent it stalling when cold.
