How reliable are these parts?

I'm trying to decide whether to get a second hand one for £11, or get a new one from David Silver for £40.

Obviously it is a false economy if it claps out on me again, so just curious what you'd get (considering I'm unemployed).

Bah, ok, with Honda electric track record (the weak link) would /YOU/ think it was worth an extra 30 quid for peace of mind.

I'm just curious. I'm getting the money lent to me so it's not horrific, just I'm a tight bastard.

I'd go get a £10 one from a breakers TBH , in that if it breaks you buy another 2nd hand one , if that breaks you buy another and another,

the chances of 4 breaking in a row I think are unlikely even with Hondas reg/rec issues I've never had 4 go in a short space of each other , ones off broken bikes also tend to have lower miles under their belt too,

My CBR600RR reg ,recs come off bikes less than 200 and 3000 miles odd as they were wrecked. Same with some relays I took off them at a breakers.

I'd surprised sickie hasn't come to try hawk you one yet ,

Why did you vote new then?

And I'm thinking it might be wiser to get it that way. I wasn't thinking all that clearly, my old man tainting my mind. Wee bugger.

Will still need to borrow a multimeter to a) check it IS the relay, its about 95% certain b) double check the relay I buy works.

is your dad like mine then? obssessed with money and never buys anything second hand? (when he is around he is always dismayed at my constant buying of old bikes)

Aye. Loves saving money, but seems to think dropping 400 for a set of new front discs is preferable to £50 second hand for instance.

'You know they will work'...

Right Thinking

The amount of money I've saved over the years by bodging/fixing things with cheap ass bits off fleabay... All goes on beer and drugs mind but ya'know.

twice i have had fuel pump relays go on me, once on a VT500 and once on a VF500, both times i bypassed the relay so the fuel pump was on ignition live, so the fuel pump power was on if the ignition was, never had any trouble
