right, so iv got a high airflow filter on, and i have no idea which way to turn the air screw Neutral

it was 2 and 1/2 turns OUT with the stock airfilter.

so with the K&N on, should it be more like 5 turns OUT?
[
OR

1 and 1/2 Turns IN

iv got an oversized jet, race crank (with stuffed webbing and polished conrod) and sports exhaust fitted.

when i put the stock jet... stock exhaust.. back on it would rev well and idle well, but soonas i put it in gear and put some torque on the engine it would die down.

NO I DO NOT HAVE THE STOCK AIRFILTER OR IT WOULD BE FITTED

So whats the actual problem? Does it start and run?
Is it running lean? Or what?

Turning the screw clockwise (in) will decrease the air flow on the idle circuit making the mix richer.

i just want to even it out, is 2 and 1/2 turns out is to suit a very small air flow

what is going to suit a high air flow.

Try it as it is and run a plug check

Very difficult to do for anything other than the main jet.

It generally comes down to calculated guessing for needle position and air mixture screw adjustments.

Without meaning to sound nasty, Noone can tell wether your bike needs to be richer or leaner without running a plug check, generally you'll need to chuck more petrol in the cylinder if you've put an open airfilter on... From what I've been told by several sources, The adjustment only works for the idle on the RS50...

right, i aint being nasty either, but you dont seem to be getting this. if i have a standard airfilter on (a massive box full off sponge with a small hole in the top) the screw is 2 and 1/2 turns out.

sooo having a small piece of sponge over the carb insted of a big box full of sponge is going to change the airflow, Yes??? still with me?

how do i SLOW the airflow down with the K&N on.

let me worry about the bike running well Mr. Green

as said, not being nasty, Thank you Embarassed

IIII GET YOU!
You want to restrict the airflow of the Air filter because it makes your bike run too lean =) I'd imagine it's an extra turn in

You need it richer so for now, turn it in bit by bit until it seems to run right.

ok thanks, this is mostly guess work to be honest, the 110 jet is just to big, so im hoping by changing the needle hight and getting the mixture right, with the stock exhaust on, it might run ok for a while Rolling Eyes Embarassed

Is it running lean at idle / 1/4 throttle???? If it is and you are needing large corrections on the pilot air screw then it's likely you'll need a bigger pilot jet to bring the pilot air setting back into a sensible range due to fitting a wanker filter.

i dont really have a problem with the bike running, i just want to try and get the K&N to run like a standard airfilter.
