https://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm255/DeclanJ/RS125/P3300501.jpg

Early start to bike the bike up on a Sunday.

https://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm255/DeclanJ/RS125/P3300502.jpg

https://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm255/DeclanJ/RS125/P3300503.jpg

https://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm255/DeclanJ/RS125/P3300504.jpg

Sorted my gear out. Along with textile trousers and jacket and some boots. Had to dig for some of it as I'd been off the road for about 2 months.

https://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm255/DeclanJ/RS125/P3300506.jpg

Sorted the £900. Already paid £100 of it with a deposit.

https://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm255/DeclanJ/RS125/P3300507.jpg

Leaving my drive.

https://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm255/DeclanJ/RS125/P3300508.jpg

https://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm255/DeclanJ/RS125/P3300509.jpg

Some motorway shots.

Camera run out on the way up so run out of pictures. I turned up and had a look over it. Seemed as described on eBay so handed over the cash and checked the fluids and off I went. Had a decent 50 mile journey back following the parents in the car.

About a mile from my house it conked out for no aparent reason. Started stuttering, then came back to life before eventually coming to a stop in the hard shoulder of a dual carridgeway. Then had to push it a mile to a side road. Kept trying to start it and it was having none of it. Pushed it a bit further and it only clicked. Managed to get it bump started and carried on riding home. It was at about 70 degrees all the way home but crept up to about 85 on this last mile home. It was also extremely LOUD on the way home. Here's some pictures from today. I discovered a gaping hole in the exhaust.

Sorry for poor quality pictures. Camera is still dead.

https://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm255/DeclanJ/RS125/22122008383.jpg

The bikes generally good condition. Everythings present but quite tatty. Nothing a good winter clean up won't fix.

https://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm255/DeclanJ/RS125/22122008384.jpg

Close up of the left hand side fairing. It appears theres been a low speed spill down this side judging by the tail section and front fairing but this fairing is rather untouched.

https://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm255/DeclanJ/RS125/22122008385.jpg

10,523 KM. Already had a rebuild done.

https://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm255/DeclanJ/RS125/22122008389.jpg

Tail section. Good condition. Seat is a bit tatty.

https://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm255/DeclanJ/RS125/22122008390.jpg

Front fender and Dunlop tyres. Quite new tyres. The injector mould's are still visible around the edge of the tyre.

https://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm255/DeclanJ/RS125/22122008391.jpg

The other side of the fairing. Taken it off to get at the exhaust.

https://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm255/DeclanJ/RS125/22122008392.jpg

Hole in the exhaust. Right near the manifold. You can imagine how this felt on my ears on the way home. Right underneath me.

https://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm255/DeclanJ/RS125/22122008393.jpg

Exhaust is in generally bad condition. Don't think it's worth repairing.

https://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm255/DeclanJ/RS125/22122008395.jpg

Shot of the exhaust and right side fairing.

https://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm255/DeclanJ/RS125/22122008396.jpg

Original tool kit bad undert the seat with some original tools.

https://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm255/DeclanJ/RS125/22122008398.jpg

Some kind of an Acumen device. I think it's an alarm as it has a speaker type shape from the type. Might have a go at removing this as I can see it causing future problems.

https://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm255/DeclanJ/RS125/22122008400.jpg

Another rear show of the bike. I've given it a quick de-grease with WD40 and polish with Castrol bike polish. Just too make it look a bit more respectable.

I'm looking at replacing the pipe for an Arrow system for about £120.

https://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm255/DeclanJ/RS125/ae5d_1.jpg

I'd be looking to run it with a Carbon RS250 can. Make it look quite nice and they are cheaper than the Arrow cans.

I've charged the battery up today and all I'm getting is a clicking. Might be time for a new battery? However, lights and indicators are working fine, as with the horn. Thumbs Up

I want to get it running well and quite quick.

Going to top up all fluids and give it a minor service. I think it's got a powervalve fitted so it should make a whole 30+ BHP according to Aprilia Rolling Eyes

Nice one Declan. It looks just like my old Aprilia RS125, minus the huge hole in the exhaust. You will absolutely love it once you get it fully derestricted. It sucks that you settled for this rather than a nice 400 though. I guess I'll just have to show you what you're missing once your on the road and I rip you to bits... Laughing

Wink I think it is restricted mate. I'm sure it's got a powervalve fitted.

Definetly gotta go for a ride out for you but we'll have to find some twisties so it's some competition for you Wink

im wondering if the reason for the dying halfway through the journey and the refusing to start was due to a lean mixture by the massive hole in the exhaust?

Infact im wondering whether it will even start without the exhaust on as the fuel/air mixture relies on the backpressure of the expansion chamber to force unburnt fuel into the cylinder.

If it's just clicking and not turning over id say your battery either isnt properly charged (May need topping up because my gpx did this, just melt some frost from your freezer and top the battery up with this (Dont use water from the tap!)) or may be dead. the 'click' your likely hearing is the starter solenoid i think, and this is because it isnt recieveing enough power to turn the starter motor and therefore the piston.

Nice bike like, i'd choose a mito or another NSR over and RS but for £1000 (including new exhaust) it doesnt seem bad at all.

Well, when I entered the power band range on the way back it felt as if it would rip my arm off.

It seems as if this is a well looked after bike, just a bit neglected recently.

I mean it's had a rebuild and even had an alarm fitted and has been data tagged at some point.

I doubt it's been abused much.

Yeah it's the same company on eBay.

I actually got it off of eBay, but try not to post eBay links up in projects as they don't work after 90 days.

Thumbs Up

Ah right Thumbs Up Good luck with your bike.

On the way back I was thinking, Has this just got really loud or is it just me. I went to shift up and I was in 6th and it was still loud.

Was funny on the high street home, got plenty of "Wtf? Confused" Looks.

Dude, if I'd seen this post earlier I could've sold you my Arrow spannie. Near new and would done it for £60 posted.

I'd definately go for a 34mm carb, be careful on buying them 2nd hand as they're often really old and the internals are shot away. They're loads of awesome mods you can do to them but first thing I'd do (once its all mechanically sound elsewhere of course) is go for an aftermarket rear shocker. The standard sachs/betor item is pretty poor. The lads on these two forums have got a wealth of knowledge on these particular bikes and are dead helpful.

Tj tuning

All the best widdit and rs125 ftw!

Jack

Ahhh bless, you're going shit your pants when you get a big bike then. Laughing

I quite fancy a little RS for maybe track or as a second bike or even a short distance commuter we'll soon see in the new year. I just can't stand the paint schemes.

Yeah, they're by no means quick nor powerful but they're awesome fun IMO. I'm definately going to put mine on track once my TDR is fully sorted.

Have fun mate Thumbs Up
