was leaving a roundabout earlier and heading up a dual carriagway so decided while the roads were dry i would give it hell.
got to about 14,000 rpm and the engine died and the oil light came on at the same time(looked like the oil light anyway).

not sure if the rear locked as i pulled the clutch in almost immediately. After about 2 seconds the oil light went off and as i was still half way into an overtake and was exiting the next slip road i decided to pop it up a gear and let the clutch back out slowly.
it fired straight back up and was fine the rest of the way home.

last time i checked the oil level was slightly high, possibly a little too high, could this be a cause ir is it likely to be oil pump related?

Sounds like you lost the ignition rather than siezing the motor, could you have inadvertently pushed the kill swith with thick winter gloves by mistake?

maybe,...but i would have had to knock it back on again by accident too, which is possible if my hand was still near it from knocking it off...but unlikely.

come to think of it, this also happened when i first got the bike about 5000 miles ago, but at much lower rpm, but between then and now its been bang on, never missed a beat.

this is the first time in around 500 miles that its been over 7-8000 rpm as the roads have been shocking lately, could that have anything to do with it?.... do engines get lazy Confused

rev limiter kicked in??
or may be your oil pressure dropped (which is normally oppiste of what would happen when giving it shit) and that caused the bike to switch itself off momentary to protect itself.

im going with my first guess though

it never bounced though and i have had it bounce a few times before and the light on the dash marked "rev" is orange. the light i got was red, which could have been either H.I.S.S or "oil" but i could have sworn it was oil.

its doing my head in now Confused

If it was oil light it wouldnt have stopped the motor till it had ran dry/seized, and you wouldnt have been riding on would you?

Possible as you said about the HISS, which if i remember is the honda imobiliser isnt it?, not possible a loose connection or something and kicked in the immobiliser for a second before disarming again?
