£80 for service, £15 for MOT*, £60 for new lock barrel. Reasonable?

* Bike has bad rear damage so wouldn't have thought it would pass MOT just yet!

That's not too bad a price really. I just asked about a 4k service on the Blade, £95. So it seems a decent enough price really.

Now if you owned a Ducati, then It would be time to speak to the bank manager.

Nah, just find someone who knows what they are doing and is not charging silly prices for labour. Should be fairly easy.

All the best

I suppose so, but I was thinking more main dealer as an example.

Don't the Aprilia Mille's need the engine dropping for the first service too?

I see, I'm not sure what the law is regarding that passing the MOT. Give Kev a shout, I'm sure he'll be able to point you in the right direction.

do you not need a grab handle to pass MOT? I know the bulbs dont fit right, brake lights work fine but not side/head lights, so I assume that would be a failure alone.

But then you are just paying for the Ducati sign over the door.

Needs the valves doing at the first service. It was the old 851 / 888 Ducati where you needed to drop the engine to adjust the valves. The Bimota Tesi (using the 851 / 888 engine) has a major service taking 36 hours because of the need to drop the engine, etc.

All the best

Keith

You shouldn't need a grab handle to pass MOT, some bikes aren't made with them! Don't quote me though.

You don't need the grab handle and as long as nothing is actually falling off the bike and the lights work it will pass.

True Keith, but a bloke I know who took his 748 to a Ducati specialist for a belt change got the shit end of the stick. Upon selling the bike, the new owner took it for another belt change a few thousand miles later just for peace of mind. Turns out the Ducati 'specialist' had fitted the belts totally wrong, and they could have slipped off at any time. They had also used way too much silicon and actually blocked an oil pipe which supplied the top half of the engine.

Hi

True, but then I have seen dealers screw up. For example our car has fried the control unit for the semi automatic gearbox and sprung a major leak from the power steering. Both these happened immediatly after a service (the control unit beeped its displeasure the first time I turned the ignition on after a service).

All the best

Keith
