Which bedroom telly?

With the sales upon us and a nice bonus in the bank time to buy a telly for the bedroom
So any advise please? Just for watching the occasional DVD and a bit of morning telly at the weekends when I can't be arsed to get up.
Good picture and sound, Freeview and/or built in DVD optional. Computer input would be good.
2-300 quid?
What do you recommend or warn against?

Don't really want something massive so <24 inches.

Depends on the size of your room really, and what you want.

We have a 19" Tevion HDTV in our bedroom, With built in Freeview. Its just wall mounted. With the power lead neatly clipped to the wall down to the socket. Nice and out of the way.


Its probably 1 meter away from the end of the bed. So 3 meters from my eyes when I'm sat up in bed watching it.

It could probably do with being a smidge bigger, But I got the TV for nothing off my parents. When I lived at home, It was my sisters TV, and I had the 40" samsung in my bedroom (overkill I know), But now me and Roxanne have our own place, the Samsung is the Front room set up. My parents bought my sister a 37" Samsung, And gave me her old TV.


Its alright for nothing I suppose.

I think they only paid about £100 for it last year from Aldi.



You can pick up 21" Samsung TVs really cheap now!

I'm strictly a Sony bloke when it comes to TV's but decided to draw the line on the last one for the bedroom and went all budget with a Bush one from Argos that's about a year old now.

I think it's 22" although might be 19" but it's PLENTY big enough - Freeview (which I've never used as it's hooked up to a V+ Box), two HDMI sockets, PC Socket (whatever that's called!) and a couple of Scart sockets too.

I think it was under 200 quid at the time - hasn't skipped a beat and gets used everyday

I recall somebody telling me, All the screen panels, in all the mainstream HDTV's are made by somebody like LG.



But Samsung ones are unique to Samsung.

I may be talking utter bullshit. Just seem to remember being told this.

Aparently there are a very few companies that actually make panels, LG and Samsung being 2.

Samsung provide panels for a lot of 'cheaper' tellys so you can pick up a £250 telly that is just as good as a £400 Samsung telly.

Although when i bought my Sony bravia 32" thingy, i compared it side by side to an LG in the shop and the Sony clearly had a better picture quality.

would recommend sony.

Just got one for christmas 32" from john lewis (£329) incl 5 year guarantee.

Parents have a 38" samsung, and my picture quality is hands down better than theirs.

Also the samsung seems to have a bit of motion blur, which my sony doesn't

I find the picture on sonys to be very matt in look, whereas the colours on samsungs are vibrant and glossy.b

Yeah the screen burn in is only a problem with plasma and CRT.

I would of gone for a pioneer TV as i had heard VERY good things about them but i couldn't get one off the high street in 32" and in my price range (£450 max...and anything bigger than 32" in my bedroom would be stupid)...i didn't fancy paying £450 for a telly only for it to get chucked around by royal fail, hence why i wanted to get it off the high street (and if it goes wrong i don't have to fanny around posting it back either)

Anyhow, i would rate Sony above Samsung when it comes to SD. Although i can't compare HD properly as i have only compared a 1080p Samsung next to my 720p Sony
