I've been using it for ages, the tab system is great. But if you're used to older versions the first thing you'll want to do is the menu bar tweak, you'll know what I mean if you download it. Never had any security issues.

Haven't used it as I use Firefox, but it is meant to actually work to all internet standards for the first time ever, so there is a positive.

FF it first and much more customisable than Microsoft's feeble effort. Wink

Cheers for the replys Karma

I'm in two minds about it, I have so many bookmarks saved to my favorites i'm worried I might loose them if i changed to firefox or any other browser. Is there any way that I can save them all before I update?

Thanks for the help, i'd be lost without it!

And Operas tabs are more intuitive to tab between than Firefox and it compresses them up so they don't all disappear off the screen.

All the best

The bookmarks can be exported from one to the other, they are not deleted just copied across.

Safety most importantly. For example an exploit was discovered recently that effected IE6, 7 & 8 which meant malicious code could be put on your machine simply from visiting a website.

Aside from that firefox is extremely customizable but you don't really get a sense for how useful some of the features are untill you have them, then you can't live without them. There have been a few threads on what are the must have addons for firefox, but a few of my faves are;

Downthemall
Imagezoom
Adblock Plus

Have been using Opera for years. Use Firefox as well.

Opera has traditionally been far faster than IE. Has the advantage that if you fill in a form and then have the web page fail to respond (eg, BCF saying it is too busy) you can just press the back button and still have all the fields filled in.

Has had tabs for years, and I find the order it tabs through them to be more logical than Firefox (but then I have got very used to it).

Opera does have quite a lot of options that you can select.

Opera has a dashboard so that when you open a fresh blank tab there are a few large icons of web pages which you can just immediatly to.

All the best

Keith

No, remember it's still in the Beta2 stage so it's not going to be perfect, not as it ever will be. Wink
